What a wonderful Seventh Grade trip to Buffalo and Niagara Falls! From exploring historic landmarks and experiencing the power and beauty of Niagara Falls to making lasting memories with friends, our students represented Mayfield Middle School with pride. Thank you to our students, families, teachers, and chaperones for making this an unforgettable experience. The memories made on this trip will last a lifetime!

Today was a special day at MMS! After school, our Crochet Club and Book Worms Club joined forces for a wonderful "Hooked on a Book" Showcase, welcoming families, friends, and community members to celebrate creativity, reading, and student talent. It was great to see our students proudly sharing their work and passions while connecting with others. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success!

Yesterday, five Mayfield students competed at the State Tournament for Power of the Pen, held at Ashland University. To be there, among the state’s top 500 writers, students had to place in the top 50% at districts and at the top 25% at regionals. Congratulations to Liz Ige, Kennady Kelley, Shrahdha Kota, Sophia Koumonduros, and Daniel Paster for making it to this elite level of competition!

Volunteers from Team Maverick visited the Rescue Village where they were able to make enrichment activities for the residents, interact with some adoptable pups, and learn more about the meaningful work this wonderful organization does. They also sponsored the adoption of Manny the cat and Dixie the dog! Great job Mavericks!

Let’s give a huge congratulations to our Mayfield Middle School athletes for representing our school at the State Meet against the best competition in Ohio! The Wildcats showed tremendous heart, determination, and pride on one of the biggest stages of the season.

Girls State Meet Highlights
4x100 Relay – 4th Place Overall: The team of AiraLyna Howard, Mia Pastore, Isis Segines, and Isabella Williams ran an outstanding time of 51.53, earning a Top-4 finish in the state!

4x200 Relay – 8th Place Overall: The same relay squad of AiraLyna Howard, Mia Pastore, Isis Segines, and Isabella Williams battled hard and placed in the Top 8 statewide with a time of 1:50.08!

Individual 200 Meter Dash: Isabella Williams placed 9th in the State in the 200m dash with a strong time of 26.57 just missing the podium against an elite field!

Long Jump State Qualifier: AiraLyna Howard competed in the Long Jump at the State Meet and represented Mayfield with pride against Ohio’s top athletes!

Boys State Meet Highlights

High Jump – 5th Place Overall: Melvyn Sawadogo cleared an impressive 5’9”, earning a Top-5 finish in the State in the high jump competition!

Discus – 5th Place Overall: Casey DeBrow threw a huge mark of 156’5” to finish 5th in the State in discus!

These athletes represented Mayfield with class, effort, and toughness all season long. Competing at the State Meet and finishing among Ohio’s best is an incredible accomplishment.

Congratulations to all of our state qualifiers, coaches, and families on an unforgettable season!

The tradition continues thanks to our MMSA! For more than 30 years, Mayfield Middle School has celebrated our 13-year-olds as they begin their journey into the teenage years. Today, we held our final 13th Birthday Lunch celebration of the school year! Thank you, MMSA, for helping make these special memories possible for our students each and every year!

Congratulations to our Second Semester MMS Students of the Month! This morning, students and their families joined us at Mayfield Middle School to celebrate an outstanding school year. These students were selected by MMS staff for consistently modeling the Four R’s — Respect, Responsibility, Right Attitude, and Risk Taking — throughout the year. We are so proud of their leadership and the positive impact they have on our school community!

Yesterday, the boys' tennis team defeated Willoughby 3-2. Winning matches for Mayfield were third singles' player Eytan Shtoff 8-1; first doubles' partners Michael Niland/Jaxson Brooks winning in a tiebreaker 8-7; and second doubles' partners Aiden Eddy/Ethan Browning 8-3. Winning exhibition doubles were Jaylen Said/Eugene Kim 8-7 also in a tiebreaker. Exhibition singles player Vishanth Vasanth won his match 8-3.

As the school year comes to a close, we are excited to celebrate students who have consistently demonstrated the MMS Four R’s throughout the year. Today, 30 students from each grade level were selected by their peers for modeling Respect, Responsibility, Right Attitude, and Risk Taking at Mayfield Middle School. Our Sixth Grade celebrated at Chipotle, our Seventh Grade enjoyed WhirlyBall, and our Eighth Grade had a great time at TopGolf. Congratulations to these outstanding students for representing the very best of MMS! Thank you to our awesome MMSA for sponsoring today's activities!
