Be aware we have entered deer rut season. The deer are much more active moving about which can cause concerns for motorists. Here are some of the best safety tips:

* Be vigilant: Drivers should avoid distractions
* Be aware of the time: Deer are most active between sunset and sunrise.
* Scan the road: Look beyond your immediate headlights and scan the roadsides for deer.
* Deer travel in groups: If you see one deer, assume others are nearby.
* Be mindful of your speed: Travel at posted speed limits to allow more time to react if deer are visible.
* Brake, don’t swerve: If a collision is unavoidable, apply the brakes, but remain in your lane. Swerving can lead to a more severe crash.
* If you are involved in a crash: Pull safely off the roadway and call 911 or the nearest Highway Patrol post to report the crash. Do not approach an injured deer.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol statistics, there have been 108,047 deer-involved crashes since the beginning of 2020. Of those crashes, 48 were fatal, resulting in 49 total deaths.

We have been informed that Lilly has passed away. Our condolences to her family. We appreciate everyone’s concern.

Please let us know if you see Lilly. She went missing on Thursday night from the Chagrin River Road and River Oaks Trail area.

TRAFFIC ALERT: The Mayfield High School homecoming parade will take place on Wednesday, September 17 at 6:30 PM on Lander Road. Beginning around 6:20 PM, Lander Road will be closed from Mayfield Road to Wilson Mills Road to accommodate the festivities. Ridgebury traffic will be diverted via Sunset and Elmwood during this time. The parade is expected to last 30-40 minutes. ***ROAD CLOSURE***Brigham Road will be closed from 9/22 to 9/26 to thru traffic due to a culvert replacement. This will be a 24/7 road closure. Residents residing on Brigham Road to Racebrook Road will be able to access their residence using Brigham Road eastbound from Chagrin River Road. Residents from Swiler and east of Swiler residing on Brigham Road will utilize Brigham Road westbound from County Line Road to access their residence.

First Energy will be working at the intersection of SOM Center Rd and Wilson Mills on 9/10/2025 and 9/11/2025. There may be some temporary delays due to lane closures.

Utility pole fire on SOM Center Road south of Wilson Mills caused power outages in the area. No buildings were damaged.

Sunday Afternoon Update: All power is restored and Wilson Mills Rd is open. The sidewalk from Hanover to Village Circle remains closed due to debris and cable lines that still need to be cleaned up.

Sunday Morning Update: First Energy continues repairs on Wilson Mills. We initially thought Hanover would need to be closed again, but we were able to keep it open. There is still no through traffic on Wilson Mills. We expect full power restoration and Wilson Mills opening this evening.
