Planning any late-summer projects on your Great Sacandaga Lake access permit area? Remember that an approved HRBRRD Work Permit is required before performing any work—including moving rocks, cutting trees, or installing docks and moorings.
• 🧹 Plan Ahead: Avoid delays by submitting your application early.
• 💻 Go Online: Conveniently submit your application and the $15 fee through our Online Access Permit System.

It’s the last day of July, and a spectacular day to be out on the District's waterways. Whether you are launching a kayak into Great Sacandaga Lake or navigating the beautiful waters of Stillwater Reservoir, enjoy the ride!
Before you push off from the dock, please keep these quick safety reminders in mind:
• 🦺 Wear It: Keep your life jacket on whenever you are on or near the water.
• 💦 Hydrate: Pack plenty of water and take regular breaks from the sun.
• ⚓ Stay Alert: Keep a close watch on changing weather conditions and surrounding boat traffic.

⏱️ It only takes 60 seconds to put it on. It takes less than 10 for an emergency to happen.
This Saturday, July 25th, is World Drowning Prevention Day. Whether you are visiting Great Sacandaga Lake, Indian Lake, Stillwater Reservoir, or any of our regulated waterways, let's keep it safe:
• Wear a life jacket. Always wear a life jacket on the water. If you are at Great Sacandaga Lake and forgot yours, borrow one at the Sacandaga Field Office (SFO) loaner station. Please return it after use so others can stay safe too.
• Phones down, eyes up. Drowning is silent and happens in seconds. Keep your cell phone away and stay 100% focused on watching children near the water.
• Play sober. Keep alcohol out of your boating and swimming plans.
Let's look out for each other and enjoy our beautiful waterways responsibly! 🌊☀️

Amazing ! Our operations and maintenance team, with assistance from the Town of Northampton, safely pulled the workboat from Great Sacandaga Lake for necessary maintenance and repairs. We truly appreciate the town's support. 🌊🛠

A huge thank you to Pluchino's Marina! ⚓

Our Great Sacandaga Lake Operations and Maintenance team ran into an unexpected mechanical issue with our workboat. We were so grateful when they passed by and voluntarily and happily lent a helping hand, safely towing us back to the Sacandaga Field Office. We really appreciate the support out on the water!
