“Meet the Cardinals” Tonight!

Student-athletes representing Mayfield Independent Schools this fall will be introduced during the school district’s annual “Meet the Cardinals” tonight at 6:30 p.m. at CFSB War Memorial Stadium.

Entry fee is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for students, including all players, band members, and cheerleaders. At the gate, the Mayfield Cardinal Booster Club will not be able to take any bills greater than a $20.

The booster club will also be selling stadium parking passes and booster club memberships until 6:20.

The MHS football team will be selling jerseys for $20 each.

Tonight is a great night for Cardinal fans to meet their fall sports teams. They get their first look at the 2026 Mayfield High School football team under new head coach Stephen Hatchell. Other new coaches introducing their teams tonight are volleyball coach Kristin Wright and new golf head coach Brandon Henson. Members of the Mayfield High School Marching Band as well as athletes from all fall sports teams and cheerleading squads of Mayfield High School, Mayfield Middle School, and Mayfield Elementary School will be introduced.

It's going to be a fun night!

It was "Opening Day" for faculty and staff at Mayfield Independent Schools today as we prepare to welcome back students tomorrow. This afternoon, new educators were treated to a luncheon in their honor. Thank you to CFSB of Mayfield for hosting. It was such a treat!

Mayfield Independent Schools welcomed back educators Monday for a morning of inspiration before welcoming back students this week for the 2026-2027 school year.

Teachers and district staff for Mayfield Independent Schools met together at Mayfield High School first for coffee and donuts. Following an opening pep rally with the Mayfield High School cheerleaders and the MHS band, superintendent Billy Edwards introduced author and international speaker Trevor Muir.

Muir is a former educator with expertise in project-based learning (PBL). He has written several books on the topic including The Epic Classroom: How to Boost Engagement, Make Learning Memorable, and Transform Lives, The Collaborative Classroom, and New Teacher Mindset.

Muir challenged teachers to utilize their stories to make meaningful connections with their students. While the job of teachers is often complex and difficult, designing learning experiences can create successful students. Telling his own stories, he explained that the effects of purposeful learning is work that actually matters to students.

Mayfield Independent Schools welcomes back students on Thursday, August 6.
