Dear Mayfield & Graves County,

The results are in & you’ve selected a new Commonwealth’s Attorney. I just contacted Shannon Powers & congratulated him on his victory. As I told him, in the immediate future I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition and going forward I will only be a phone call or text away if I can ever offer guidance or assistance.

Thank you for giving me the honor of serving as your Commonwealth’s Attorney from 2019 through 2024. I tried every day to be worthy of the trust you placed in me, always mindful of the incredible responsibility that comes with the position. From creating specialized units to address vulnerable victims and drug enforcement, to tackling an unprecedented case backlog, my team & I have done our best to serve with integrity, commitment, and respect for the rule of law. I’m extremely proud of our accomplishments, and it has been one of the greatest privileges of my career.

Our community is obviously deeply Republican. I acknowledge and respect your decision to elect a Commonwealth’s Attorney that aligns with our preferred political party. I remain dedicated to our county’s well-being and will continue to contribute in any way I can to make our justice system as strong, reasonable, and fair as possible.

Thank you all, once again, for your support and trust over the years,

Richie Kemp

Thank you Lotus for the shoutout & for recognizing the dedication and the results of the Graves Co. Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office & all of our MDT community partners in protecting and supporting our children. Grateful for our office’s continued partnership with Lotus & all we’ve achieved together!

Our Children’s Advocacy Center is based on a multidisciplinary team approach. This means we partner with a team of skilled professionals who support children and families from crisis through long-term recovery.

The Graves County Multidisciplinary Team has made remarkable progress in achieving safety, healing, and justice outcomes for survivors of child abuse and their families. This past fiscal year, Graves County had nearly 14% more cases in the criminal justice system compared to other counties in our region, resulting 52 convictions.

Graves County Commonwealth's Attorney, Richie Kemp, shares “Being a part of the Graves County Multidisciplinary Team is one of the most important parts of my job. Working alongside Law Enforcement, Social Workers, Lotus Children’s Advocacy Center, and other partners helps us ensure that Graves County is a safer place for children and families. We hang a banner in our monthly meetings to remind us of our goals and purpose – Safety, Healing, and Justice. The dedication to and success achieving these goals is unmatched and it is an honor to serve this county as part of the Graves Multidisciplinary Team.”

Thank you to the Graves County Commonwealth's Attorney Office and the entire multidisciplinary team. Your enduring commitment, compassion, and collaboration are key to creating communities free from violence!

My staff & I participated in the Truth & Consequences program again this year at MMS & GCMS. Students at both schools were engaged & asking thoughtful questions. I’m confident this will lead to more positive choices when these kiddos inevitably face some difficult situations. Great job everyone that contributed to the Truth & Consequences Program.
