The Mayfield Fire Department would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and all who had the privilege of serving alongside Larry Akey and Al Flint. They will be greatly missed but never forgotten and we appreciate the time they served in the Mayfield Fire Department. The Mayfield Fire Department held their annual dinner and awards on 02/07/2026. Congratulations to Firefighter of the Year for 2025, Andy Kosiba and to Phlan Hart for the Chief's award. Service awards were given to Roger Hayward (15 years), Amanda Mormile (10 years), Matthew Spencer & Brianna Taylor (5 years). Chaplin Any Mott presented the Service with Integrity award to Michele Buckley. There were 505 service calls answered in 2025 and the Top Ten Responders were: Steve Hathaway (276), Roger Hayward (249), Mark VanAllen (218), Dylan Sweet (187), Roman Yudin (159), Andy Mott (155), Chris Mraz & Tasha Yudin (145), Reese Steinhaus (136), Brianna Taylor (130). A presentation was given to the family of Lily Smith who battled a rare cancer in 2025. Lily's family is an intricate part of the department with Assistant Chief Dylan Sweet (uncle), Lieutenant Chandler Manchester (cousin), Commissioner & Lifetime Member Peter Wilcox (great grandfather)and Support group members - Jaidene Sweet (grandmother) and Megan Sweet (mother). We are all thrilled she has completed treatment and is home with her family.
