Utah Poison Control Center has received reports of counterfeit products labeled as Cat’s Claw or Kava possibly linked to severe overdose. The products may contain synthetic kratom substances, such as 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, or MGM-16, which are opioid drugs that can be more potent than morphine. Testing and investigation into the issue are ongoing.

Utah Poison Control Center recommends avoiding Cat’s Claw or Kava products purchased from smoke shops. If someone is unresponsive, difficult to wake up, or not breathing normally, call 911 and give naloxone if available. If you or someone you know is experiencing dependence or withdrawal, talk with a healthcare provider or addiction specialist about treatment options.

The Babylon Fire Incident Management Team has brought in a National Fire Prevention Education Team to support and provide local communities with wildfire preparedness information. Based on feedback from landowners and residents at recent community meetings, a series of Wildfire Preparedness Workshops will be offered in Monticello.

The workshops will address creating defensible space ("D-space") around homes, understanding the details of "Ready, Set, Go" stages, how to read the evacuation zone maps, and practical actions that people can take now to further prepare. No registration is required.
