Each candidate will have an opportunity to share a brief two-minute message before we auction off their favorite dessert. We'll also feature both live and silent auction items generously donated by our community. Dinner is included.

Mental Health Awareness month was declared in May 1949. More recently, in 2006, Children's Mental Health Awareness Day was chosen as a special day in May to focus on children's mental health needs. Since 2006, May has been a time to acknowledge the importance of children's mental health, show that positive mental health is essential to a child's healthy development from birth, promote positive youth development, resiliency, and recovery, along with the transformation of mental health service delivery for youth, adolescents, and their families. At the Children's Center, we are grateful to have two dedicated and caring mental health professionals on staff, Pamela Jines and Courtney Deatherage. 💚💚

Meet our Prevention Coordinator, Jenn Smith...
Jenn has been a part of our team for more than two years and continues to make an incredible impact through our school-based prevention program. Her compassion, insight, and dedication help strengthen the foundation of safety and well-being for the children in our community.

Why did Jenn choose prevention?
Jenn believes in addressing issues at their root. Her passion lies in protecting children by equipping them with education, tools, and support before a crisis occurs. She is deeply committed to helping kids feel confident, informed, and safe.

What does she see as the biggest need in this field?
In Jenn's view, one of the greatest needs is improving the mental well-being of children. She believes the best place to start is by encouraging families to set down the electronics, get outside, and enjoy local parks, and spend intentional time together. Meaningful connection, she says, can make all the difference.

What is Jenn's picture of an ideal future for children?
She imagines a world where every child grows up in a nurturing, educational environment that values their heart and health just as much as their mind. She hopes technology will continue to open doors--but never at the cost of genuine human connection, strong community, and the resilience that comes from real-life experiences.

We are grateful for Jenn's leadership and passion she brings to our mission every day.

💙👖 Denim Day 👖💙

Today we wear denim to stand with survivors and to raise awareness about sexual violence. What someone wears is never an excuse—and consent is never optional.

At the Children’s Center, we walk alongside children and families every day, providing hope, healing, and justice when it matters most.

Wear your denim. Start the conversation. Support survivors.
