A vehicle fire was reported at Ailor Dale Baptist Church on Beard Valley Road, with the vehicle next to the church. Dispatch sent it out as a county all call due to exposure. Engine 61 and Engine 63 arrived and cancelled the remainder of the assignment with the exception of Tanker 91. Engine 91 also continued on to the scene. Law enforcement used extinguishers to help protect the church before arrival of E61.

Starting today, Tennessee firefighters and EMS providers have stronger legal protections.

Thanks to the work of the members of Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association and the support of Senator Paul Bailey, Kip Capley and the lawmakers who stood with us, HB2428 is now in effect.

This new law makes assaults against firefighters and EMS providers a Class E Felony, bringing the penalties in line with assaults against law enforcement officers.

Every day, firefighters and EMS personnel answer the call without knowing what they will face. No one should be assaulted while protecting their community.

This is more than a new law, it’s a statement that Tennessee values and protects those who serve.

Thank you to every firefighter who advocated for this legislation, and to the legislators who helped make it a reality.

Engine 61 and Engine 63 provided mutual aid to Luttrell Volunteer Fire Department at 220 Monday Road lot 61 on a mobile home fire. Hose lines were deployed from E61 and an aggressive interior attack was made and got a quick stop on the fire. During operations, a cat was discovered inside and was rescued. Union County EMS provided some oxygen to help it recover. Also on scene was Tank 33 from Northeast Union VFD with some members and some members from Maynardville Fire Department.

The Maynardville Fire Department, along with the Paulette, Luttrell, Northeast Union, and Sharps Chapel fire departments, will conduct fire training at the house at 3636 Maynardville Hwy several times this month. We will be using training smoke, so there is no need to worry; the house is not actually on fire. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Weigel's for donating the house to the volunteer fire departments for training purposes before construction begins on their new store.

Continuous training is a vital part of our operations. Every scenario we practice helps us improve our skills, strengthen teamwork, and ensure we are prepared when every second counts.

We take pride in serving the City of Maynardville and the citizens of Union County, and we are committed to providing the highest level of fire and rescue protection possible.
