The Union County Fire Chiefs Association sends our thoughts and prayers to the family of firefighter/detective Andrew Woods. Andrew served his community for many years making a positive impact in many lives throughout our community. Andrew your memory will forever be a blessing, and though you may be gone, your memory will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Andrew Woods.

Our hearts are broken this morning after hearing the saddening news of the passing of Andrew Woods. We thank you for your years of dedication and commitment to the Sharps Chapel VFD and the Union County Sheriff’s Department. Andrew always went above and beyond for any call he responded to. We send our deepest condolences to the woods family in this difficult time. Rest easy 520 we got it from here sir.

⚠️ Warming Center if Needed ⚠️

With a Cold Weather Advisory in place and temperatures expected to drop into the single digits, we want to remind folks that if you need a warm place to stay tonight, there is a Warming Center open. If you need a ride to the center, call the number listed and they will be glad to help.

For the ones that were wanting to help…We now have a warming center! The amazing JC Baker Lodge located at 251 Main Street has volunteered to open their doors the next few nights for our community! Starting tonight Sunday, January 19th from 6pm-8am…anyone that needs a place to get warm can come!

But we need our amazing community’s help! We need a few volunteers if u would like to donate your time and help please let me know!

If anyone wants to donate these items they can be dropped off at JC Baker Lodge or they can be picked up!

Items needed:
Cases of Waters
Coffee-cream-sugar
Hot chocolate
Chili (if someone wants to cook & drop off or can be picked up as well) or items to make chili!
Plastic spoons
Styrofoam/ Cups
New or gently used blankets
Air mattresses
