Tomorrow being Election Day, again you will see our names on the ballot. We would appreciate your support again as we seek another term as commissioners serving the Mayo Area Fire District. The past four years have seen many challenges but we are proud to report the state of our organization is strong. In the past four years we have been able to provide 24/7 staffing for fire coverage. Currently our volunteer ranks are also as strong as they have been in many years and recruiting is ongoing to bring others into the fire service. Many improvements in equipment have been made to improve our response and lifesaving abilities such as state of the art auto extrication equipment and many other small equipment updates. Last year we were able to obtain an updated millage rate which helped stabilize our revenue. Doing so allowed us to reduce the total millage thus lowering the taxes levied on residents of our district. Proudly, Mayo Fire District obtained an ISO rating of 3, 1 being the highest rating and 10 being the lowest, which is impressive for an agency of our size. Any of the successes we have achieved would have been impossible without the incredible staff and volunteers who are on the front lines each and every day, for which we are grateful and indebted to them for. While many improvements have been made there is still work to do. In the not so distant future many changes are on the horizon for fire service within Spartanburg county. We look forward to continuing to serve the Mayo community in providing the highest quality fire service. There are three names on the ballot with two seats to fill, we ask for your support again tomorrow as you vote to vote Martin and Blanton for the commission board.
