Just wanted to send a big shout out to Post member Zack Reynolds who continues to represent the Post and our community in Veteran events. The week prior he spoke at an event in Stoneville where the District 14 Commander attended with lots of other local Veterans.

Most recently, below are a couple of photos from the Wentworth Veterans Park Memorial Day Event. Thanks Zack and Mary for all you do to support our Post, our Veterans, and our Community. Keep Leaning Forward

A Hero Never Forgotten Thanks to CD Grant and Post 534

United States Army, SPF4, William C. Johnson. 59 years ago today he gave the ultimate sacrifice, RIP brother, such a man as this stranger was VERY real.

Today, 5/29/26, marks 59 years to the day that a brave young solder of just 19 years gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country and for our Freedom. My brother was a true hero. He sacrificed his life -- no college, no wife, no children or grandchildren to carry on his name, no more birthdays, Christmas' or parties on New Years Eve, no more Summer vacations, graduations or concerts, family dinners with family he never got to meet, or movie nights, having a beer with his brother or his buddies--at 19 he gave it all up so WE COULD have these precious things. Please remember to take a moment of silence today to remember him and all of our Soldiers who gave up everything and willingly made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

The Stranger

One lovely summer day
As I was walking through the grass
Reflecting on the very fondest
Memories of my past

I passed an unfamiliar place
And stopped a while to see
Completely unsuspecting
Of the change this place would bring

I stood before a wall of names
Two hundred and fifty-one
Engraved upon a monument
That pierced the shining sun

And though, to all these names
I was a stranger passing by
I looked upon these names
And there was one that caught my eye

It may have been a moment
Or an hour, or a year
I walked up to the name
And leaned in close so I could hear

I closed my eyes and listened
To the pure and priceless truth
And came to understand the love
Of which, this wall is proof

It's said that he who bears
The very greatest love of all
Will sacrifice his life
Before He'll see a dear friend fall

Though people often wonder
Whether such a man is real
I see him now
Through these engraven letters that I feel

He's sitting with his brother
telling stories as they laugh
Of the greatest game's he'll ever pitch
Of the biggest fish he'll catch

He's standing by his colors
On a hillside far away
He's diving through the amber fire
While others run away

I search through all my memories
Of the noble and the grand
The courage and the truth
That I've been taught to understand

Of all the stories that are told
This shall be told of you
Dear Soldier, How you gave your life
For those you never knew.

A nation which forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten.” — Woodrow Wilson

Memorial Day is more than the gateway to summer—it is a day of solemn gratitude for the men and women who gave their lives in defense of the United States.

From the Reflections of Spray, NC page 2019

This coming Monday is Memorial Day a day set aside by the Congress of the UnIted States to Honor the Memory of those who died in defense of our country and the Freedoms we all enjoy .We have MANY such heroes from the Eden Area from the Revolutionary War to the present .This week Im Particurly remembering and honoring the 5 heros who Sacrificed All,I don't like the term Gave All because they wanted to live as much as anybody else who served in the Vietnam War including myself ,Their LIves were taken from them .RIP My Brothers You Are Not Forgotten .!

,Memorial Day weekend is usually packed with sales in its name and to most Amercans it signals the start of the Summer Season but its much more than that , Please Take a few minutes this coming Monday and Thank God Remembering them For our Heroe's Sacrifices All in Defense of this great land and for the freedoms we enjoy because of their sacrifices ,Its not about those of us who served otherwise in Defense of this country living or whom have died since .Those will be celebrated in November and is called Veterans Day

32 Days and a Wake UP!

We will have a virtual meeting on May 13, 2026 at 7:00 PM (meeting details below). It is critical that every organization has representation present as we finalize coordination for Legislative Day on June 2, 2026.

Team Captains: If you have not signed up for a station, now is the time. We must ensure every position is covered, every detail accounted for, and every team ready to execute.

This is more than an event, this is a moment of unity, visibility, and impact for our North Carolina’s veteran community. It will take every one of us working together, standing together, and showing up together.

Continue to PROMOTE. SHARE. ENGAGE. We need maximum participation.

We MUST show our legislators the strength of a united front, North Carolina Veterans and advocates moving with one voice, one mission, and one purpose.

Most importantly, we must show our Veterans and their families that we stand together,

United we Stand, Divided we Fall!!! Let's Go!
