Our Public Works team has been working hard to give our downtown area a little refresh! As part of these efforts, the team has been repainting the crosswalks throughout downtown to help keep our streets looking clean and welcoming for everyone.

We’d like to give a BIG thank you to our citizens and downtown business owners for your patience and understanding during the temporary road closure earlier today. We know closures can be an inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your cooperation while our team works to make improvements throughout our community.

Thank you to our hardworking Public Works team for all they do to keep Mayodan looking its best!

Just a reminder that Mayodan Town Hall will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Need to make a utility payment? Payments can still be made while Town Hall is closed through our online payment portal or by using the drop box located to the left of Town Hall’s main doors.

The Town of Mayodan would like to remind residents and motorists of an upcoming speed limit change on Town-maintained streets.

Beginning September 15, 2026, the speed limit on Town-maintained streets will be reduced from 35 MPH to 25 MPH.

Please note: This change applies only to Town-maintained streets. State-maintained roads—including Main Street, 2nd Avenue, Washington Street, Ayersville Road, Turner Road, and East Roosevelt Street—will remain at their currently posted speed limits.

New 25 MPH signs are currently being installed throughout the community. Please be mindful of the upcoming change and watch for posted signage.

Our Water Treatment Team works behind the scenes every day to monitor, test, treat, and maintain our water system to ensure that every drop meets the highest standards. Their dedication, expertise, and commitment often go unnoticed, but their work plays an essential role in keeping Mayodan healthy, safe, and thriving.

The Town of Mayodan wants to make sure our customers are aware of an update to the fees included on your utility bill.

While water and sewer rates remain the same, there has been a change to solid waste collection fees. The fuel surcharge that previously appeared on utility bills has also been discontinued.

These changes will affect the total amount of some utility bills, so we encourage customers to review the attached notice for a breakdown of the updated fees.

We appreciate your understanding as we work to keep our customers informed. If you have questions about how these changes may affect your bill, please contact Mayodan Town Hall at 336-427-0241.

Rockingham County Public Health has received confirmation that a racoon encountered near Beck Road to the northwest of Eden was positive for rabies. This is the fourth case of confirmed or presumed rabies in a wild animal in Rockingham County since June. We’re asking all community members to remain vigilant and to report suspicious animals to Animal Control at the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office (336-634-3300).

Suspicious animal behaviors can include:
• Excessive aggression
• Agitation
• Salivation (“foaming at the mouth”)
• Loss of balance or coordination
• Stumbling and head tilting
• Fearlessness
• Excessive tameness (in wild animals)

These precautions can help keep you and your loved ones safe:
• Do not approach animals you do not know.
• Teach children not to approach or touch animals without an adult’s permission.
• Keep pets current on rabies vaccinations.
• Do not feed wild or stray animals, including cats and dogs.
• Do not leave food or loose trash outside your home.
• Cover garbage bins with tight-fitting lids.
• Do not leave pet food outside overnight.

If a person or a pet is bitten or scratched by a wild animal or an animal with unknown rabies vaccination history, wash the wound and seek medical attention immediately. Low-cost rabies vaccines are available at the Rockingham County Animal Shelter-Reidsville, NC.

Rockingham County Public Health is in on-going contact with local law enforcement, state agencies, and neighboring counties to develop strategies to keep our community members safe.

ROAD PAVING NOTICE

The Town of Mayodan’s contractor will begin road paving on N. 3rd Ave. on Wednesday, August 26th, beginning at 8:00 AM. Work is expected to continue through Friday, September 4th.

Please do not park on N. 3rd Ave. during this time.

Weather delays are possible. Please follow the Town’s page for updates or contact Town Hall at 336-427-0241 with questions.
