🏠 Stay inside if you can, skip the outside chores. They’ll still be there when it cools down.

🐕 Bring Fido inside, ensure he has plenty of water, and keep him off pavement/cement today. Limit excursions outside and use a leash to ensure he doesn’t get the zoomies.

👶 Keep Junior out of the sun, in light clothing, and extra hydrated.

👵 Same for Meemaw. Make sure she doesn’t try to get gussied up today, and remind her that sweet tea and mint juleps are not water.

Take care of each other. Heat makes everyone cranky, so try to remain calm, stay home if you can, and check in on those you think might need some extra support.

Be safe and well, friends!

July 21, 2023
An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the Duval County area today. Near record heat will combine with summertime humidity to produce DANGEROUS heat-index values. This will begin late this morning and persist through after sunset. The Excessive Heat Warning will remain in effect until 9 p.m. this evening. We urge everyone to take these temperatures seriously, use caution, and protect themselves and their loved ones. Remember to hydrate, seek shade, take breaks if you work outdoors, and know the signs of heat-related illness.

What is MBMF?

Mind-Body Mental Fitness (MBMF) enhances resiliency and
mental toughness through the use of evidence-based
mindfulness skills. The primary goal of MBMF is to enhance the
mind, body, spirit and social domains in one's life.

Mind-Body Mental Fitness (MBMF) is a six-class course. The six sessions can be taken together as a series, or any one session can stand alone. Each class deepens your understanding of mental fitness and gives you the tools to manage stress. MBMF gives you the ability to learn and grow from the stressors you face; to not only bounce back, but to bounce forward.

Create your FREE account and register for a course: www.mynavyfamily.com

The first freeze of the season is this weekend! Remember to cover your plants, ensure outdoor plumbing has adequate insulation, and when in doubt, run the farthest tap from your water inlet on a drip to help keep water moving and guard against freezing.

Also be safe using alternate forms of heat: ensure your flue vent is open if you want to use your fireplace, DON’T use a grill or fire pit (propane or otherwise) inside, and don’t run your car in the garage — even with the door open.

Finally, please bring your fur-babies in, especially at night ❤️🐾

As we continue to monitor Tropical Storm Nicole with the Emergency Operations Center, it is evident that our county will be impacted by tidal flooding, wind, and rain. These conditions may restrict access to coastal and low-lying regions.
Due to the storm’s projected timeline, schools will remain open on Wednesday with a regular early dismissal. Extended day services will operate as usual. There will be no afterschool activities, events, or athletics.
We will close all schools and district offices on Thursday, November 10th. Please be reminded that Friday is a holiday honoring Veterans Day.
Thank you and stay safe!

🚨 SEEKING NEW OMBUDSMAN 🚨

Hello MINEDIV22 families,

The time has come for my family and I to depart the Command, and I will need to turn over the Ombudsman position to a new spouse!

The Ombudsman is a volunteer DOD position open to the spouse of a servicemember currently attached to the Command, and every Command is required to have an Ombudsman. Ombudsmen act as liaisons between the Command and their families, providing information, referrals, emergency/crisis support, and act as a line of communication from family members to the Command.

If you are interested in the position or learning more about the Ombudsman role, please message the page, email, call, or text (see contact info in the About section) and let me know!

Very Respectfully,
Lena R. Covington
MINEDIV22 Ombudsman

Naval Station Mayport is now in HPCON A with additional measures.

Please be aware of sanitation practices and when in doubt or feeling under the weather, wearing a mask can protect those around you, whether it’s COVID, influenza, or the common cold!

Effective today we are now in HPCON Alpha. This decision was made due to local community transmission rates, capacity of local hospitals and medical capabilites of military treatment facilities.

What does this mean -

When the HPCON is A, or “Alpha,” there’s a limited health alert. Maintain your routine actions but also:

Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
If you’re sick, call your medical provider for instructions on receiving care before going to a clinic or hospital. Make sure your installation is aware of the symptoms of your health threat.
