Take the time to check out one of the Career Orientations the Atlantic County Department of Public Safety (ACDPS) is hosting in October and November for the position of County Correctional Police Officer!

Orientations start promptly at 6:00 pm. Duration of the event will be approximately one hour. Business casual attire is strongly recommended. Events will be held on October 28th and November 11th, address listed below.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR COUNTY CORRECTIONAL POLICE OFFICER
Applicants must:
• Be a U.S. citizen;
• Be a resident of New Jersey;
• Be at least 18 years of age;
• Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license;
• Have no criminal record;
• Pass a physical examination conducted by a physician;
• Be of sound moral character verified by a background investigation;
• Pass an oral interview with the Recruiting Unit / Administrative staff;
• Pass a psychological examination;
• Pass a pre-academy physical fitness indicator test, with minimum scores of:
o 1.5 mile run in 15 minutes, 55 seconds or less and;
o 300-meter run in 70.1 seconds or less and;
o Vertical jump of 15 inches or more and;
o 24 push-ups in 1 minute or less and;
o 28 sit-ups in 1 minute or less and;

• Officers work schedule of 5 days on/2 days off, steady 8-hour shifts.
• Salary range of $55,000.00 - $127,000.00

TRAINING
Successful candidates that are selected will be assigned to a 20-week Police Academy. Upon graduation the new Officer will be assigned to the Justice Facility and a Field Training Officer for an additional 3 weeks.
(NOTE: Successful completion of all training is required to continue employment.)

September 11, 2001 — We Will Never Forget

Today, the Atlantic County Department of Public Safety – Correctional Police pauses to remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless lives forever changed by the events of that day.

We remember the innocent men and women who went to work, boarded airplanes, and began their morning never knowing they would not return home. We honor the firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger when others were desperately trying to escape it.

For our department, this anniversary also carries a deeply personal significance. We proudly recognize the members of our own ranks who responded to New York City in the aftermath of the attacks, answering the call during one of our nation’s darkest hours. Their service is part of our department’s history, and we remain grateful for the courage, compassion, and sense of duty that brought them there.

We also recognize the many members of our department who have worn two uniforms in service to our country. We honor those who served in the United States Armed Forces before September 11th, those who answered the call after the attacks, and those who deployed and served throughout the Global War on Terrorism. Their sacrifices—and those made by their families—are part of the legacy of September 11th that continues to this day.

Twenty-five years have passed, but remembrance does not have an expiration date.

We remember those we lost.
We honor those who responded.
We recognize those who served.
And we remain grateful to those who continue to serve our communities and our nation.

May we never forget the extraordinary unity our country demonstrated in the days that followed, and may we always honor the sacrifices made in defense of our fellow Americans.
