Over the past month, our recruiting staff has been actively working to fill recruit slots for the upcoming fall academies. We’ve had the pleasure of attending several community events, including the Mt. Carmel Festival in Hammonton, the Columbian Festival in Pleasantville, and National Night Out in both Pleasantville and Brigantine. These events brought strong community engagement and generated significant interest in a career as a County Correctional Police Officer with Atlantic County.

Our team will continue recruitment efforts at the Mullica National Night Out this Thursday, as well as the Atlantic County 4-H Fair on Friday and Saturday.

ACDPS will be hosting a career orientation. Every aspect of being a County Correctional Police Officer will be discussed with our experienced recruitment team. We’ll discuss salary, benefits, the academy, daily work life and so much more.

Orientations start promptly at 6:30 pm. Duration of the event will be approximately one hour. Business casual attire is strongly recommended. Address listed below.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR COUNTY CORRECTIONAL POLICE OFFICER
Applicants must:
• Be a U.S. citizen;
• Be a resident of New Jersey;
• Be at least 18 years of age;
• Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license;
• Have no criminal record;
• Pass a physical examination conducted by a physician;
• Be of sound moral character verified by a background investigation;
• Pass an oral interview with the Recruiting Unit / Administrative staff;
• Pass a psychological examination;
• Pass a pre-academy physical fitness indicator test, with minimum scores of:
o 1.5 mile run in 15 minutes, 55 seconds or less and;
o 300-meter run in 70.1 seconds or less and;
o Vertical jump of 15 inches or more and;
o 24 push-ups in 1 minute or less and;
o 28 sit-ups in 1 minute or less and;
BENEFITS & INCENTIVES:
• Paid Police Academy Training
• Full medical/dental benefits/ vision benefits
• 120 hours of paid vacation time 1 year up to 5 years of service
• 120 hours of paid sick time
• 24 hours of paid administrative time
• Initial uniforms/equipment provided
• Clothing/Uniform maintenance allowances
• Education and training incentives
• Numerous overtime assignments available
• Officers work schedule of 5 days on/2 days off, steady 8-hour shifts.
• Salary range of $42,000.00 - $102,000.00
• Specialized units available
TRAINING
Successful candidates that are selected will be assigned to a 20-week Police Academy. Upon graduation the new Officer will be assigned to the Justice Facility and a Field Training Officer for an additional 3 weeks.
(NOTE: Successful completion of all training is required to continue employment.)
