βš οΈπŸ›Ÿ WATER SAFETY AWARENESS πŸ›Ÿβš οΈ

The Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad would like to support and reinforce the important message shared by our Dive Team regarding the dangers of swimming at Weymouth Furnace.

As a rescue agency, we respond alongside our Dive Team to water emergencies throughout our community. We have seen firsthand how quickly a day of recreation can turn into a life-threatening situation.

Many people only see the calm water at the surface, but beneath lies a combination of hazards including sudden temperature changes, strong and unpredictable currents, deep water, poor visibility, and submerged debris such as trees and branches. These conditions can quickly overwhelm even experienced swimmers.

When emergencies occur in these environments, every second matters. Rescue operations in moving water are complex, dangerous, and require highly trained personnel working together to safely locate and recover victims.

We encourage everyone to take the warnings seriously and understand that these dangers are very real. The best rescue is the one that never has to happen.

As summer approaches, please make smart decisions around the water, supervise children closely, wear life jackets when appropriate, and avoid swimming in prohibited or hazardous areas such as Weymouth Furnace.

We are proud to stand alongside our Dive Team and all of our public safety partners who work tirelessly to keep our community safe.

πŸš’πŸš‘πŸ›Ÿ Stay safe. Stay aware. Respect the water

πŸš‘ New Jersey legislation A1008 πŸš‘

is an extremely important bill for EMS providers, first responders, and the residents we serve every single day. This legislation would require municipalities to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) services and officially recognize EMS as an essential service in the State of New Jersey.

For years, EMS professionals and volunteers have responded to emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year β€” providing lifesaving care during medical emergencies, motor vehicle crashes, fires, natural disasters, and public health crises. Despite this, EMS has still not been classified as an essential service in New Jersey like police and fire services already are.

Passing A1008 would help strengthen emergency medical services across the state by improving stability, encouraging proper funding, supporting recruitment and retention, and helping ensure communities continue to receive reliable emergency medical care when seconds matter most.

EMS providers are often the first to arrive when someone is experiencing the worst day of their life. Recognizing EMS as essential is not just about legislation β€” it is about acknowledging the critical role EMTs, paramedics, and rescue personnel play in protecting public health and safety every day.

🚨 If you support this bill, we encourage you to contact your New Jersey State Senators and Assembly representatives and ask them to support A1008. Public support and community involvement can make a major difference in helping this legislation move forward.

Please take a few moments to reach out, send an email, or make a phone call to let your elected officials know that EMS deserves to be recognized as an essential service in New Jersey.

Together, we can help protect the future of emergency medical services for all of our communities. πŸš‘πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

πŸ§ πŸ’š May is Mental Health Awareness Month πŸ’šπŸ§

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Every day, people around us may be struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, or other challenges that often go unseen. Taking care of your mental well-being is not a sign of weakness β€” it is a sign of strength.

At Township of Hamilton Rescue, we also recognize the unique mental health challenges faced by first responders. EMTs, firefighters, police officers, dispatchers, and healthcare workers are regularly exposed to traumatic incidents and high-stress situations while serving our communities. It is important to check in on one another, have conversations, and remind each other that it is okay to ask for help.

If you are struggling, please know you are never alone. Support is available 24 hours a day:

πŸ“ž NJ Mental Health Cares: 1-866-202-HELP (4357)
πŸ“ž Su***de & Crisis Lifeline: Call or Text 988πŸ“ž NJ Hopeline: 1-855-654-6735

A simple conversation, checking in on a friend, or reaching out for support can make a difference. Let’s continue working together to break the stigma surrounding mental health and support one another β€” both on and off the job.

πŸš‘ Township of Hamilton Rescue Expands Patient Care Capabilities πŸš‘

Township of Hamilton Rescue is proud to announce that, as of 1800 hours today, we are officially LIVE with our Expanded EMS Protocols, allowing our EMTs to provide an even higher level of prehospital care to the residents and visitors of Hamilton Township.

These new protocols include:

🫁 Albuterol & Nebulizer Treatments
EMTs can now administer breathing treatments to patients experiencing respiratory distress from conditions such as asthma, COPD, allergic reactions, and other breathing emergencies. These medications help open the airways and improve oxygen flow, allowing patients to breathe easier sooner.

😷 CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure)
CPAP is a non-invasive breathing device used for patients suffering from severe breathing difficulties, including congestive heart failure and respiratory distress. By helping keep the airways open and improving oxygenation, CPAP can significantly improve patient outcomes before arriving at the hospital.

🩸 Glucometry
Our EMTs are now able to check blood sugar levels in the field using glucometers. This allows us to quickly identify diabetic emergencies and better assess patients experiencing altered mental status, weakness, dizziness, or other medical conditions related to blood glucose levels.

These expanded protocols greatly enhance our ability to provide advanced, timely treatment in the field while continuing to bridge the gap between Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support care.

Prior to going live, our members completed extensive classroom education, hands-on skills training, competency evaluations, and scenario-based instruction to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety. Our providers dedicated countless hours to mastering these skills and preparing to better serve our community.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Virtua HealthοΏΌ for their guidance, education, and continued support throughout this process.

Most importantly, thank you to our dedicated EMTs and staff who continuously strive to provide the best possible care to our residents and visitors every single day. Your commitment, professionalism, and passion for serving the community do not go unnoticed.
