Last night during our Wednesday drill night, members of Laureldale Fire/Rescue participated in extrication training at RT50 U-Pull-It by Dirkes. Crews reviewed multiple rescue scenarios to help refresh and sharpen the skills that are critical during serious motor vehicle accidents.

Training like this is extremely important for our members. Every crash scene is different, and continuous hands-on practice allows our firefighters and rescuers to work safely, efficiently, and effectively when someone is trapped and needs help fast. Regular training also gives our members the opportunity to stay familiar with new techniques, tools, and rescue strategies that can make a difference in an emergency.

During the drill, we also had the opportunity to check out some new equipment and technology offered by Holmatro USA & Canada and ESI Equipment, Inc. Thank you to Leandra from ESI Equipment for coming out and assisting with the training and demonstrations.

A special thank you as always to Dirkes Used Auto Parts and RT50 U-Pull-It by Dirkes for their continued support of our department and for providing vehicles for our training exercises. Partnerships like these help ensure our members are prepared to serve our community when called upon.

🚨 Call 26-209 & 26-210 🚨

On Tuesday 5/19, Laureldale Fire/Rescue responded to two separate fire incidents in the Township.

🔥 The first call was for a small mulch fire in Consumer Square near Taco Bell. Utility 18-34 responded quickly, extinguished the fire, and thoroughly wet down the surrounding area to prevent any rekindles. Mays Landing Fire Department also responded.

🔥 Shortly after, crews were dispatched to a large brush fire on Rt. 322 at the corner of Taminnen Rd. Utility 18-34 arrived and quickly stopped the fire from spreading further into the wooded area. Assisting on scene were Mays Landing Fire Department and the New Jersey State Forest Fire Service.

With the recent dry weather, wind conditions, and warmer temperatures, the threat for wildfires is significantly increased across our area. Even a small spark or improperly discarded cigarette can quickly turn into a dangerous fire.

⚠️ Wildfire Safety Tips:• Never throw cigarette butts from vehicles• Avoid burning during dry or windy conditions• Properly extinguish campfires and fire pits• Do not park vehicles on dry grass• Secure trailer chains to avoid sparks on roadways• Keep mulch and combustible materials away from structures

👀 If you see a brush or wildfire:• Call 9-1-1 immediately• Provide the exact location if possible• Stay clear of the area and allow emergency crews access• Never attempt to fight a rapidly spreading fire yourself

Thank you to all responding agencies for the teamwork and quick actions that helped prevent further spread today. Stay safe and stay fire aware! 🚒🌲

Earlier today, Laureldale Fire/Rescue was dispatched on Call #26-200 along with the Mays Landing Fire Department, Weymouth Vol Fire Company, Richland Volunteer Fire Company 12-1, and Milmay Volunteer Fire Company to the area of Estelle Ave for a reported structure fire.

Tanker 18-38 responded and provided manpower to the scene, along with supplying water to Mays Landing Tanker 18-19. Tanker 18-39 also responded, supplying water to Tanker 18-38 to support ongoing fire suppression operations.

Township Of Hamilton Rescue Squad responded to the scene and provided firefighter rehab services to crews operating at the incident.

The Township of Hamilton Police Department also responded to assist with scene operations and traffic control.

Crews worked together to bring the fire under control. Once extinguishment was completed, overhaul operations were conducted, the structure was checked thoroughly with thermal imaging equipment, and all tools and equipment were packed back up. Units then cleared the scene and returned to service.

Upon returning to the station, Laureldale crews refilled both tankers with water and placed all apparatus back in service, ready for the next call.

A special thank you to the dispatchers for the outstanding job they did coordinating communications and resources throughout the incident. Their professionalism and efficiency play a critical role in every emergency response.

Thank you as well to Elwood Volunteer Fire Company - Station 160 for standing by our firehouse, providing coverage while our crews operated on the incident.

🔥 Important Public Safety Message 🔥

While we’ve had some recent changes in the weather, drought conditions are still impacting much of New Jersey, leaving our area at an elevated risk for brush and forest fires. It doesn’t take much for a small spark to turn into a fast-moving fire under the right conditions.

👏 Kudos to our neighbors at the Weymouth Vol Fire Company and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service for their quick response and hard work containing a 7-acre brush fire early this morning. Their fast action prevented further spread and protected surrounding properties—great job by all involved!

🚩 What creates peak wildfire conditions?
Wildfire risk is at its highest when several factors come together:
• Dry vegetation (leaves, grass, and fallen branches become fuel)
• Low humidity (moisture is pulled from vegetation, making it easier to ignite)
• Windy conditions (helps fire spread rapidly and unpredictably)
• Warm temperatures (increase drying and ignition potential)

When these elements align, fires can start easily and spread faster than expected—even from something as simple as a backyard fire.

🔥 Burning Safely Matters
If you plan to have a bonfire or conduct any open burning, it’s critical to do so responsibly:
• Always check current local restrictions and fire danger levels
• Keep fires contained to a proper fire pit or cleared area
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Have a water source or extinguisher readily available
• Fully extinguish the fire before leaving the area

📞 Permits & Regulations
Many types of outdoor burning require permits through the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. These permits help ensure conditions are safe and that proper precautions are in place. Before you burn, make sure you’re doing it legally and safely.

👨‍🚒 We’re Here to Protect Our Community
Our volunteers are committed to protecting the residents and visitors of our community, but we need your help to prevent fires before they start.

If you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately.

Stay safe, stay alert, and help us keep our community protected. 🚒

🚒 Laureldale Fire Rescue Wednesday Night Drill 🚒

Members took part in driver training this week, getting behind the wheel of Utility 18-34, Engine 18-33, Tanker 18-38, and Tanker 18-39. Training with multiple pieces of apparatus ensures our drivers stay sharp, confident, and ready for any situation.

Driver training is critical in the fire service. Operating large emergency vehicles requires skill, awareness, and constant practice. From navigating tight streets and intersections to safely responding under emergency conditions, proper training helps reduce risk, protect our members, and keep the public safe.

Our volunteers dedicate countless hours to drills like this so they can provide the highest level of service. Their commitment ensures that when residents and visitors need us most, we are prepared to respond quickly, safely, and effectively.

Thank you to all of our members for continuing to put in the time and effort to serve our community. 🚨
