The DeKalb County Assessor’s office will be closed Friday, May 8th in observance of Truman Day. We will be back open on Monday from 8-4:30.

REMINDER ..... 2026 Personal & Business Personal Property Assessment sheets are due BY April 30th at 4:30 pm. ON May 1st, if they are not turned in, penalties will apply. The penalty is $15 to $105 just for not filling out the form, based on assessed value. If you still have your original assessment form, you will still be able to E-file with the PIN # at the top of your original form. After May 1st you WILL NOT be able to use your E-PIN. If you do not have your original assessment form you will need to come to the Assessor's office to pick up a new form, as it will be too late to mail a new one to you without penalties.

The 2nd Notices for DeKalb County Assessments were mailed out, March 18th. If you received a notice (postcard) then that means your 2026 assessment form was not received in our office by March 1st.
Please call the office at 816.449.2212 Ext 1 for any questions you may have.
For those who turn in their 2026 assessment form by April 30, 2026, your penalty will be waived. Just be aware, that ON May 1st, penalties will be applied.

Your 2026 Personal & Business Personal Property Assessment Forms are due by March 1st to avoid penalty! Since this falls on a Sunday, I will accept them on Monday, March 2nd. You can either drop them in the mail, e-file with the PIN number that is on your form, drop them by the office, or place in the drop box by the South stairs of the courthouse. The DeKalb County Assessor’s office will be closed Thursday, February 12th to observe Lincoln’s Birthday. We will reopen on Friday, February 13th at 8 am.

2026 Assessment Sheets were mailed, Friday, January 2nd. This is the form to declare what personal or business personal property you owned as of January 1st, 2026. If you are new to the county you will need to call the office and request a form. These sheets are due back by March 1st, to the DeKalb County Assessor’s office, to avoid a penalty. You can either mail, e-file, drop them by the office or place in the drop box by the South stairs of the courthouse. If you do not receive an assessment by February 1st, please reach out to the office at 816.449.2212 ext 1.
