May Department Update

May proved to be the busiest month in our organization’s history, with a total of 136 calls for service. We extend our sincere gratitude to our employees and crew members for their hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to both our service and the communities we proudly serve.

During the month, there were six instances where three ambulances were dispatched simultaneously, leaving only our reserve unit available for additional emergencies. This trend highlights the growing demand for EMS services, as well as the exceptional effort of our crews to maintain continuous coverage across our response area.

Our monthly training focused on a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) mock accident scenario. Personnel participated in hands-on training covering EMS command, triage, and transport roles. This exercise also provided valuable leadership development opportunities for newer officers and members.

In addition, members of our Training Center attended the Waupun Fire Department Open House and Job Fair, where they promoted careers in EMS and connected with individuals interested in joining the profession.

As our service continues to grow, we are actively seeking licensed personnel to join our team. Current openings include:

EMTs
Advanced EMTs (AEMTs)
Paramedics
Registered Nurses (RNs)

Mayville EMS extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and members of Johnson Creek Fire & EMS following the passing of Assistant Chief Matthew Anderson.

Assistant Chief Anderson's dedication to serving his community and helping others will not be forgotten. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and the entire Johnson Creek Fire & EMS family during this difficult time.

It’s that time again! Books in the Boo Boo Bus with AEMT Kasie. This week she has a special guest Fire Fighter/ EMT Caleb from Beaver Dam Fire Department. He is reading “Fire Alarm Family” from the back of their ambulance. Let’s give Caleb and Beaver Dam Fire Department a big shout out for reading to us tonight!

Applications are officially open for the 2026–2027 WEMSA Foundation Scholarship!!

Each year, the Wisconsin EMS Association Foundation provides six $1,000 scholarships to eligible Wisconsin residents who are intending to or currently attending an EMS program through an approved Wisconsin training center.

Applicants will need to submit:
Resume or CV
Technical college enrollment information
Letter of recommendation
Explanation of need
Personal statement

Application deadline: July 1, 2026

Please note: Scholarships are intended for students working toward initial licensure or advancing to a higher certification level. Funding is not intended for refresher courses or license renewals.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the day and remember those who gave everything for our freedom.

🚑🎨 EMS Week Poster Contest Winners!
