🌩️ Weather Update: Tornado Watch in Effect 🌧️

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Chautauqua County through 11 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected through tonight. While most storms may not be severe, some could produce damaging winds, hail, or an isolated tornado. Localized flash flooding is also possible, particularly where heavy rain occurs.

Residents are encouraged to:
• Stay weather-aware and monitor changing conditions.
• Keep an eye on the forecast, especially if traveling or participating in outdoor activities.
• Have a way to receive weather alerts and notifications.
• Never drive through flooded roadways.

For the latest forecasts, watches and warnings, follow the US National Weather Service Buffalo NY and local emergency information sources.

Stay informed and use caution as storms move through the area.

🕊️ May we never forget.

Chautauqua County will hold its Annual 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony at noon Friday, Sept. 11, marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

🇺🇸 The public is invited to join County officials, first responders, veterans, community leaders and fellow residents at the County Courthouse in Mayville as we remember the lives lost and honor the heroes and survivors of 9/11.

A livestream will also be available for those unable to attend.

The hearing will be available virtually and at in-person locations in Mayville, Jamestown and Dunkirk.

Chautauqua County has been awarded $250,000 through New York State Homes and Community Renewal’s Technical Assistance to Grow Pro-Housing Communities (TAG) program. 🏡

The funding will help advance housing development and support municipalities in capitalizing on opportunities for new residential investment and growth. 📈🏠
