The Mission of the Maywood Public Library District is to maintain excellence in providing the best possible materials in regard to educational, technological, and recreational uses for its community. The Library’s focus is to continue to research, evaluate, and generate outreach programs for the benefit of the Maywood community. We’re also going to have an MPLD mug decorating station, where you can decorate your $5 mug using stickers, ceramic safe markers, and bookmarks! This month, our library was able to recognize and celebrate a dedicated, impactful, and hardworking individual, Ms. Marcia C. Burton, for 35 years of service.

Ms. Marcia joined our library as a full time employee on May 1, 1991 as our IT Manager. However, she was first hired in September 1982, as a library page. She currently serves as our IT and Outreach Coordinator.

Ms. Marcia is part of our library history. She was here to see the West Carnegie building as the main library. She was here to see the designing and creation of the New Annex in 1997. She was here when the library became a District. She was here to see the growth and change of the MPLD.

Throughout her years of service, Marcia has advocated for Maywood residents and how vital libraries are to their community. The Maywood Public Library District Board and Staff thank Ms. Marcia, for her dedication and years of service.
