The Library’s focus is to continue to research, evaluate, and generate outreach programs for the benefit of the Maywood community. I would like to thank everyone who came to enjoy the Village of Maywood Annual Tree Lighting ceremony. The Maywood Park District and volunteers did a phenomenal job.

Maywood Fine Arts Association, Irving Middle School Choir, and Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Proviso East High School Marching Band gave a great show.

The Unity in Our Community was simply amazing with elected representatives of the Village of Maywood, Cook County Government, Proviso Township, Maywood Public Library District, Proviso Township High Schools District 209, School District 89, and the Maywood Park District all standing in unity.

Thank Commissioner Brandon Johnson for the Proclaimation honoring the Legacy of Chairman Fred Hampton Sr. Thank Commissioner Frank J. Aguilar for supporting our ceremony, DLD for YOUTH 501c3, Impact Church, and Thank you residents of the Village of Maywood for coming out to support.

Our Crisis Management & Public Safety Community Listening Sessions were great. Residents and community advocates shared their various points of view on multiple areas of Safe Schools, Mental Health & Wellness, Health Specialist, Police Relations, Resident Engagement and more.

The Village of Maywood thanks Village of Maywood Police Department, Proviso Township High Schools District 209, Proviso Township, School District 89, Irving Middle School, Living Word Christian Center - Forest Park IL, Maywood Public Library District, Maywood Park District, The Firehouse Dream, Loyola University Chicago, and so many more for participating.

The Maywood Fest was an amazing experience of Unity in Our Community. The Village of Maywood and Maywood Park District united to nurture the spirit of unity, peace, and love!

As the holiday season is amongst us we are excited to roll out more Unity in Our Community with partners like, 13th Positive Foundation 501c3, Athletic Konnection, Best of Proviso Township, 501c3, Black Men United, Proviso Township High Schools District 209, School District 89, Maywood Public Library District, PASO - West Suburban Action Project, and more

During Thanksgiving will be partnering with Quinn Center of St. Eulalia to provide grocery supplies and turkeys to our families in need.

As we continue to Move Maywood Forward Together, our Maywood Crisis Management & Public Safety Collaborative (MCMPSC) will be hosting Community Townhall meetings on Saturday, November 6th @ 10am in the Proviso East High School (807 S 1st Ave) Auditorium and Tuesday, November 9th @ 6pm in the Irving Middle School (805 S 17th Ave) Library.

Our new collaborative group includes a cross-functional team of leaders representing the Village of Maywood, Proviso Township High Schools District 209, Proviso Township, School District 89, Maywood Park District, Maywood Public Library District, Loyola University Chicago, parents representing the district, etc. Together we will take a deep dive to focus on strategies and solutions to ensure a safe and healthy community.

Our areas of focus will include Mental Health & Wellness, Smart Routes, Crossing Guards, Crisis Management & Intervention, Traffic Control & Flow, School Resource Officers, Funding & Resources, Data & Reporting, and more.

As we continue to work towards addressing all things that make a safe and welcoming community, I am proud to announce the Crisis Management and Public Safety Collaborative. This new collaborative group will include a cross-functional team of leaders representing the Village of Maywood, Proviso Township, School District 89, Proviso Township High Schools District 209, Maywood Park District, Maywood Public Library District, Village of Maywood Police Department, Living Word Christian Center, Loyola University Chicago, and parent advisory council members. We will take a deep dive to focus on strategies and solutions to ensure a safe and healthy community.

The group’s areas of focus will include Mental Health & Wellness, Smart Routes, Crossing Guards, Crisis Management & Intervention, Traffic Control & Flow, School Resource Officers, Funding & Resources, Data & Reporting, and more.

We are happy that funding has been established to get the first quarter of 2022 started with some great successes. The collaborative group has identified grant funding from the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority and are seeking additional funding sources through Cook County Government.

A community survey will be distributed the week of October 26th to get the public’s input, as well as two Community Town Hall meetings will be held on:

Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 10:00 am at Proviso East High School, 807 S. 1st Avenue

Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 6:00 pm at Irving Middle School, 805 S. 17th Avenue

We are heavily focused on Community Public Safety, and I would like to thank the Maywood Police Department, residents, and community advocates for helping in the reduction in overall crimes for this year. While there is a lot of work left to be done, we are heavily focused on reimagining and introducing initiatives that Make the Village of Maywood a proud place to call home.
As we Move Maywood Forward Together bringing all governing bodies together is a key part. Thank you Maywood Park District for hosting Elected Officials and Faith Leaders Game Night!
