Maywood Fire Police

Maywood Fire Police Organized in 1926, they fall under the command structure of the Maywood Fire Department. We assist the fire and police departments in many diversified areas.

Fire Police
The Maywood Fire Police is an all volunteer organization comprised of 20 members (both male and female) that combine for an average of 2000 man hours a year. The fire police work with both the town's fire and police departments, providing traffic and crowd control. They respond to all fire calls within Maywood's borders, assisting emergency equipment through major intersections, and pr

ovide traffic and crowd control at the scenes after the equipment arrives. Some examples are:
- Traffic control at major intersections during power outages, flooded streets, snow storms and major motor vehicle accidents
- Assistance with traffic/crowd control at emergency scenes, such as downed electrical wires, robbery scenes, and bomb threat scenes.
- Participated in searches for missing people and distribution of important flyers around town.
- During special events in town of a non-emergency nature (Rotary 5k run, Girl Scouts Christmas caroling through town, Maywood Train Station fall foliage train ride, and during National Night Out)

In the late 1990's, the town donated a used squad car for use as a Fire Police vehicle. In 2003, it was replaced with a new Ford pickup truck, with a vehicle designation of FP-1.
