Maywood Fire Department NJ The official page of the Maywood Fire Department. The Maywood Volunteer Fire Department protects the Borough of Maywood in suburban Bergen County, NJ.

With the New York City skyline prominently visible, we are constantly reminded that the threat of terrorism is real, even for our small town. As such, we train constantly and work towards the label of being an “all-hazards” department. In 2021, the dedicated firefighters of the Maywood Volunteer Fire Department responded to 386 incidents. The Borough of Maywood is comprised of 1.3 square miles and

over 9,614 residents occupying over 3,750 residential, commercial and industrial structures. Numerous special hazards exist within the borough of Maywood. Within town, there are five schools, four 24-hour healthcare facilities, one assisted living facility, six houses of worship, one community recreation center, a freight rail line and multiple NJ Transit bus stops. The Transcontinental Pipeline runs the length of our Borough; a Public Service Electric and Gas substation is housed in the municipality; and our town is on the flight path for Teterboro Airport, the busiest general aviation airport in the Nation, located 2 miles from our border. Responsible to protect the Borough of Maywood are 54 brave men and women who are the active force of the Maywood Volunteer Fire Department. The department traces its roots back to 1897 as one of the first fire departments in the county. A 100% volunteer department, the department responds out of two unmanned fire stations and maintains two engines, an aerial ladder, rescue truck, and three incident command vehicles

Last night our members had the opportunity to train alongside Nanuet EMS, focusing on patient assessment and safe removal from a vehicle crash.
Through multiple evolutions, members practiced various techniques for safely extricating victims while maintaining constant communication with the patient throughout the process. Special attention was also placed on ensuring proper cervical spine stabilization during every stage of the extrication.
Training like this is invaluable in helping our members build skills, strengthen teamwork, and stay prepared to provide the best possible care during emergencies.
A big thank you to for their time, partnership, and continued support in helping make this training possible. We appreciate the opportunity to work together and learn from one another!

Good morning, last night members of Maywood Volunteer Fire Department went throughout town ensuring hydrants are clear of snow and ice. First,we would to thank those who helped out and did a great job at clearing hydrants. With that being said It has come to our attention that many hydrants in town had not been dug out,this includes residential and commercial properties.

Reminder that this is the property owners responsibility per borough ordinance subject to a $200 fine. More importantly it ensures a water source for firefighters if your house or neighbors house is on fire.Please take a few extra minutes to clear your hydrants when cleaning your sidewalks and driveways.

Winter Storm Warnings continue for Maywood and the entie surrounding area. Thjs Winter storm will cause major disruption to transportation with white out conditions possible Sunday into Sunday night. In addition, a prolonged period of frigid air will affect the region through next week.

Snow is expected to begin around daybreak on Sunday and continue into late Sunday night. Mixing with sleet or freezing rain is possible towards the end of he storm. Regardless, a foot of snow or more will have fallen by the time.

Monday will have snow showers but arctic air locked in will keep us below freezing temperatures for a week. The snow will need to be removed in accordance with borough ordinances to ensure pedestrian safety.

Please stay off the roads tomorrow as the Governor has implemented a state of emergency directing non essential travel to be suspended.

Maywood OEM will continue to provide updates with any significant changes
