CFA will begin to share information with the public in a series we call 'The Booker Administration'. Everyone should be concerned when an elected official intentionally attempts to thwart a developers plans to bring a grocery store into the Village. The Village Free Press covered this issue during a community meeting in August 2024. Since then, Yellow Banana signed a long term lease to operate a Save-A-Lot on the site and permits have been granted by the Village. The project is moving forward. We have not seen any updates on if Living Fresh has been awarded a grant under Phase II of the States Illinois Grocery Initiative New Stores in Food Deserts Grant Program.
