The McAlester Fire Department recently received a pallet of water, generously donated by the McAlester Pepsi.

This act of generosity reflects more than just a donation it represents a lasting tradition of service. The company’s CEO, Charlie Rogers, served the City of McAlester as a police officer with honor and dedication. That same commitment to the community is still evident today through continued acts of support like this one.

Charlie Rodgers’ legacy continues to make an impact, and the ripple effects of his service are still being felt. The McAlester Fire Department is sincerely grateful for this continued support.

Thank you, McAlester Pepsi, for helping us stay hydrated and ready to serve!

🐾 FINAL UPDATE ON PETE (AKA ROSCOE) 🐾

Earlier this evening, we were contacted by Pete’s original owners, who were able to provide photo proof confirming that he was, in fact, their dog. We also learned that his real name is Roscoe which, in all fairness, he responded to much better 😄.

While we were certainly bummed to be losing him especially with plans already forming for a new home the reality is that earlier today we were notified that Animal Control would be contacted and dispatched if the dog was not removed from the station immediately. To prevent that outcome, he was taken from the station and cared for throughout the day.

Because of the overwhelming support from our community and the visibility this post created, Roscoe’s owners were able to contact us. In the end, this turned into a bittersweet but positive outcome, allowing him to be safely reunited with his original family.

Thank you to everyone who shared the post, reached out, and helped advocate for him. Your support truly helped make the best possible ending happen. 🐾

🐾 ADOPTION NEEDED – TIME SENSITIVE 🐾

This dog was brought to our station after being found as a stray and has been cared for by our firefighters for the past couple of months. During that time, he’s been fed, vetted, and integrated into daily life at the station. Our members have grown attached to him and formally requested to keep him as a station dog as he brings a little bit of light to a job that can be extremely emotionally taxing at times.

Despite the efforts by our firefighters to resolve this responsibly, the department Chief, assistant chief and fire marshal have directed that the dog be removed immediately. We’ve been informed that if this does not happen, animal control will be contacted. The shelter he would be taken to is regularly at capacity and unfortunately does euthanize animals.

We are posting this as a last-resort effort to prevent this dog from entering an overcrowded system with an uncertain outcome—especially after he has already found stability and care here.

If you or someone you know can foster or adopt, please reach out as soon as possible. This dog has already shown he can be part of a family and deserves the chance to stay safe.

UPDATE
Pete is pending a new home right now. We will update the post in the next day or two with his new home.
