A total of 25 Memorial HS students will compete in the upcoming Online Career Development Event (CDE) Contest. Students are participating across six teams, including:
Veterinary Science
Entomology
Dairy Evaluation
Floriculture
Meat Evaluation
Livestock Judging

Today, McAllen City Commissioners Pepe Cabeza de Vaca (District 6) and Victor “Seby” Haddad (District 5)visited Memorial High School to speak with students in our Youth in Philanthropy course about the importance of giving back to their community.

The commissioners shared what philanthropy means and discussed the many ways the City of McAllen supports philanthropic efforts throughout our community.

We are grateful for the time they took to invest in and inspire our students.

Today, our McAllen ISD district-wide Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) II students took part in our annual Mock Extrication Lab in partnership with the City of McAllen Fire Department. 🚑🔥

Firefighters demonstrated how the “Jaws of Life” are used to safely remove victims from a vehicle following a crash. Our EMT II students then applied their skills by practicing proper techniques to safely evaluate and extract injured patients.

Through our two-year EMT program, students gain real-world, hands-on experience and have the opportunity to earn their EMT-Basic Certification. Upon successfully passing the exam, our graduates are prepared to enter the workforce as certified EMTs immediately after graduation.

A huge thank you to the McAllen Fire Department and our partner Elite Medical Training Solutions for making this real-world, hands-on experience possible.

We are extremely proud of our McAllen ISD district-wide Culinary Arts students! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

They recently competed in the Texas ProStart Program Competition, the largest ProStart program competition in the nation, with over 1,000 students participating. Our teams were one of only two district teams representing the entire Rio Grande Valley, which is an incredible accomplishment.

Students competed in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management team events, as well as several individual competitions, showcasing their talent, professionalism, and hard work.

A special thank you to our amazing Culinary Arts instructor, Mrs. Monica Yvette Flores , for her dedication, leadership, and tireless work in preparing and supporting these students. Your commitment makes opportunities like this possible, and we are so grateful! 👏✨
