Women in STEM-Meet a Scientist

National Water Quality Month in August reminds us that it takes more than just turning on the tap to guarantee clean, potable water. Meet MPU’s very own scientist Christina, our Water Lab Assistant Manager, who helps ensure McAllen’s water is safe.

The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) has partnered with McAllen Public Utility (MPU) to address the gender gap in STEM by assessing gender representation in museum content. Together, IMAS and MPU will take actions toward creating an equitable STEM workforce by presenting the community with resources on STEM careers and representing more women scientists in exhibits and educational materials. Explore their onsite exhibit located inside the MPU BioZone at the museum on your next visit!

Did you know McAllen conserves water through reuse? Reuse, also known as reclaimed water, is treated wastewater that is safe and suitable for a purpose that would use other water resources. It’s not suitable for drinking but can be used for irrigation. In McAllen, reuse water is used at golf courses, the McAllen Youth Baseball Complex, and Tres Lagos. Happy Earth Day! 🌎💧

What is being worked on at Umar Ave. and 21st street? The work that is being done is badly stinking up the neighborhood and has been going for a few days. When will that project be completed?
Your high school kids or immigrants who do accounting should go BACK to school & learn it better When a customer pays the bill it should be posted as such I received an exhorbitant amount after having PAID February few days late Guess what? These ***** added it to March What is the matter with this department? Who's in charge? A SHAME ya'll arent more careful & efficient
How do we reach someone after hours? The 956-681-1717 line is never answered?
My heart breaks for those who aren't working due to the government shutdown but honestly when the oilfield bust and thousands weren't working all us oilfield families heard was "ya'll should have saved" we didn't have food banks offering us food or banks offering us low interest loans no one offered us a dang thing. At least these people know they will go back to work we had no idea when or if. Took us 2 years before the oilfield started hiring but even then and still now it's not very stable and I don't see the shutdown lasting no 2 years. #governmentshutdown #oilfieldfamily #oilfieldstrong
