🌟 Big Congratulations to Genesis Garcia Lezama! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Genesis Garcia Lezama, our dedicated Peer and Transition Services Counselor, as she takes the next step in her journey!

Genesis has been a passionate advocate for youth, independent living, and inclusive communities. Her commitment to empowering young people and supporting their transition into adulthood has made a lasting impact in the Rio Grande Valley.

Now, she’s taking her talents to the national level as the Coordinator of Youth Services with Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living!

From our Executive Director, Dr. Lidia Fonseca:
“Genesis represents the future of advocacy. Her journey with VAIL Center for Independent Living has been rooted in lived experience, driven by purpose, and committed to equity. I am incredibly proud of her growth and leadership, and know she will continue to elevate youth voices to create lasting change on a national stage.”

While we will truly miss her, we are excited to see her continue doing what she does best: opening doors and building pathways for youth with disabilities.

Please join us in congratulating Genesis and wishing her continued success! 💙👏

⚾ Volunteers Needed – Make a Difference Through Baseball! ⚾

The P2-StrongFit Inclusive Baseball Clinic is looking for volunteers ages 16 and older to help create an unforgettable experience for athletes with disabilities.

No baseball experience. No special training. Just a willingness to encourage, support, and have fun.

Whether you're a student, parent, community member, or simply someone who wants to give back, your time can help build confidence, friendships, and lasting memories for these incredible athletes.

❤️ One smile, one high-five, one act of kindness can make all the difference.

Join Disability Chamber of Commerce - RGV and be part of something bigger than baseball.

This year we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, and the 36th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). When President George H. W. Bush signed the ADA into law, he said we celebrated “another ‘independence day,’ … long overdue” for people with disabilities."

Join VAIL Center for Independent Living for this watch party session as we revisit some of the pivotal events of the disability rights movement, recognize some of the pioneers who led the way, and acknowledge the power of community that keeps us moving forward on the journey from isolation to inclusion of people with disabilities.

Texas needs to hear from people with disabilities and their families.

There is a statewide research study unlike traditional surveys, centered on your real experiences and priorities, led by the Baylor Center for Disability and Flourishing.

Your voice is needed to help strengthen the programs, resources, and supports that shape the lives of the disability community across Texas.
