On Saturday February 11th McArthur FD along with members of the Zaleski FD and Liberty Twp FD (Ross Co) participated in an auto extrication training put on by Mike Philibin of Howell Rescue Systems. Mike did an excellent job with this class. Also a BIG Thank you to Shannon Coleman of McDonald's Towing for allowing us to use their lot and cars to play with.
This was an awesome training and was a great opportunity for our Firefighters to practice their skills and learn new techniques.

The McArthur Fire Department, in conjunction with the McArthur Police Department, is doing a fill the boot drive at the red light this Saturday December 3rd from 9:00 A.M. to noon in order to support Vinton County Help Me Grow. All monetary donations received will go to Vinton County Help Me Grow in order to purchase toys for children in need this Christmas.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept pre-purchased toys due to specific age groups of children that toys are needed for. Thank you for understanding and supporting your community this holiday season.

McArthur Fire Dept was called to a structure fire early this morning which resulted in the tragic loss of a young child. Please keep the family and our Firefighters in your thoughts and prayers.

We would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance during this call...Zaleski Fire Dept, Hamden Fire Dept, Vinton County EMS, Vinton County EMA, Vinton County Sheriff's Office, Ohio Division of State Fire Marshal's Office, United Way of Vinton County and Hopewell Health.

At our regular meeting Thursday November 10th, MFD Firefighters and Cadets trained on search and rescue techniques within a structure. This training allows us to practice what needs to occur in split second situations to rescue victims from a burning home.

MFD strives to provide our citizens with the best fire protection service available.

McArthur FD members and cadets participated in competitions at the Zaleski Fireman's Festival today. It was a great time and great food. Several MFD members brought home trophies. Awesome job guys!!

Here are our members, minus the two cadets, who attended the full-scale incident with Harrison Township today. We all had a lot of fun and it's always a good learning experience when other agencies are involved.

The first Sunday in October is National Fallen Firefighter Memorial day. This weekend is the 40th anniversary of it being honored nationally. Help us honor those who have given their all. RIP our brothers!
