Snowdon is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Since 1989 it has continuously housed and cared for a wide range of large and small mammals and birds. Animals received by Snowdon are in distress due to injury, loss of parents, or loss of habitat.

It was the worst of days and the best of days for this gorgeous Osprey that was found near a road with blood on his chest.
A rescuer was able to get a towel around him and met our assistant manager, Jazmyn, at a halfway spot.
After a thorough evaluation, no puncture wounds were found, although he was obviously traumatized. The rescuer reported there was an off leash dog nearby, but we will never know if this was a road strike or injury caused by the dog.
What we do know is that the best part of this guy's day was being rescued. He is resting comfortably and should recover.

This guy has nothing to crow about. He was beat up by a mob of crows and is missing many feathers. We will be keeping him until he is flighted, and then find the perfect place to release him.
There are several reasons crows attack another. He could have wandered into territory other than his own and was considered a threat. Or, the group may think he is sick and could attract predators. We will never know, but in the meantime he is safe and being enjoyed by everyone. Crows are smart and can be fun patients.

This Downy woodpecker became a toy for a playful cat. The cat's owner rescued the poor guy and called us. Fortunately, the wounds were slight and after a few days of rest, antibiotics and good food we were able to release him. Fly high handsome!

Baby season has begun. These Robin nestlings lost their mama to a hawk. Fortunately, a good Samaritan knew of the babies and called us. Although the egg will not hatch the babies are thriving with us and will be released when they are able to fly and feed themselves.

This bald eagle was sighted on the side of Hwy 55. He has some obvious head wounds. When our manager, Mike, arrived to evaluate the eagle he noted that it was still able to fly somewhat. Working with the rancher and IDFG Mike brought in a roadkill deer to the center of the pasture allowing this guy to eat well without traveling too far. Thanks to the rancher for giving space for this guy to heal.

One of the important things Snowdon does is to visit classrooms and community organization meetings across multiple counties. We also have specialized education trunks that go to teachers who request them. This gives kids a chance to look at books, feathers, owl pellets, pelts and more while their teacher develops science lessons around the teacher resources also in the box. We are currently developing a passerine(small birds) trunk. The cost is usually $500 to $700. Your donations to IDAHO GIVES allow us to continue this program.

Hello from Captain Jack Sparrow. I'm here in the new digs at Snowdon after a hungry kitty tried to eat me. I'm doing well they say, but still waiting for my wing to heal a bit more before being released.
They tell me it is IDAHO GIVES this week. I'm not sure what that means exactly but if it means more food for me then I'm all for it!
