This week we're recognizing Cory Marsh for his dedication to serving our community. Whether he's working for the City of McCleary Public Works Department, coaching wrestling, or responding to calls with the Fire Department, Cory is always willing to lend a hand.

❤️ Why I Volunteer: Giving back to the community and being there for my community when they need it most.
⭐ Favorite Part of the Job: Building connections with the people we serve and making a positive impact in our community.

Yesterday at approximately 8:55 AM, the McCleary Fire Department was dispatched to a pickup truck fire at the westbound on-ramp of State Route 8 and Mox Chehalis Road.

Volunteer firefighters arrived on scene to find a fire in the engine compartment of the vehicle. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

We would also like to thank McCleary Light and Power, who happened to be in the area and assisted prior to the arrival of the fire department by using their fire extinguishers to help contain the fire.

Thank you to everyone involved for the quick response and teamwork, including State Patrol and Dispatch.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day weekend, the McCleary Fire Department remembers and honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, we encourage everyone to stay safe, travel carefully, and take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

The McCleary Fire Department is looking for dedicated community members to join our team as volunteer Firefighter/EMTs. Whether you’re looking to learn new skills, serve your neighbors, or challenge yourself in a meaningful way, we’d love to talk with you.

‼️NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED‼️

From helping neighbors on their worst days to supporting community events throughout the year, volunteering with the fire department means being part of something that truly matters and serving the community you call home.

This training tool will help our firefighters practice forcible entry techniques in a safe and controlled environment, allowing us to sharpen important skills that can make a difference during emergencies.

Today, we honored and celebrated the life of former Fire Chief Jerry Elofson.

Chief Elofson dedicated 25 years of service to the McCleary Fire Department, including 17 years as Fire Chief. His leadership, commitment, and impact on this department and our community will not be forgotten.

It was an incredible honor for our members and retirees to es**rt Chief Elofson to his final resting place, a final act of respect for someone who gave so much to others.

Chief Elofson’s legacy will continue to live on through this department and the community he cared so deeply about. ❤️🚒

During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we want to recognize and thank Grays Harbor - 911 Communications for the incredible work they do every single day. From providing lifesaving instructions to coordinating emergency response, their calm, steady presence makes all the difference in someone’s worst moment.
