With this major winter storm coming into our region tonight into Sunday evening, we would like to remind everyone to limit their travel, stay warm, and stay safe. With this weather, roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will be slick and hazardous. If you must leave your house we recommend dressing appropriately for the conditions, having an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Most importantly, please be aware of your surroundings and conditions where you live, by staying off devices while driving and staying updated on weather and road conditions. A few other things our members recommend is having your devices fully charged, a full tank of gas, faucets dripping water to prevent freezing, checking on elderly neighbors, bring your pets inside and limit them going outside, watch for frostbite/hypothermia signs, and if using a generator please place a minimum of 20 feet from your home, and use proper ventilation with any secondary heat source. From our department to your family be aware, stay safe, and stay warm!
