Today, the McCook Fire Department honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Their courage, dedication, and selfless service will never be forgotten. As we spend time with family and friends this holiday, let us pause to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of their sacrifice.

Our department is always looking for smart ways to be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars. Instead of purchasing a brand-new utility car—which can cost approximately $75,000 once emergency equipment is installed—we recently repurposed an existing low-mileage police department vehicle. By redeploying this vehicle, we were able to maintain the same level of service and readiness while saving significant funds. This 2022 Tahoe replaces our 2013 Tahoe, which is being redeployed in the Village.
