🌳Today, April 24, 2026 is Arbor Day!! 🌳

The City of McCook celebrated Arbor Day with the 2nd and 3rd graders at St. Patrick Elementary School!! With the help and guidance of Common Scents, we were able to plant a cherry tree that the kids plan to name! Currently in the running is "Larry Cherry"! The kids asked some great questions like "how long does it take for a tree to fully grow?", and "how deep in the ground does the tree need to be planted?" Council Member Gene Weedin read the Arbor Day 2026 Proclamation and Kyle Potthoff (Public Works Director) spoke about McCook being part of Tree City USA, while Larry Eisenmenger attended as a member of the Tree Advisory Board!! The kids even learned about the city's Tree Rebate program for the Spring and Fall seasons!
