Our Summer Reading events start this week on Wednesday, June 3rd at 2:30 pm

Porkchop Productions presents "Dinosaur, Dinosaur, Wolf!" a wildly modern reimagining of the classic fable The Boy Who Cried Wolf—but with a few more teeth, scales, and attitude! Jamie, a charismatic prankster, discovers that claiming prehistoric creatures are rampaging through an archeological dig site is an excellent way to get attention… until it isn’t! Colorful characters, big laughs, and a heartfelt message remind us that honesty is the best policy, instead having to dig for the truth!

This +/-35 minute program is great for children PreK - 5th grade.
Parents or caregivers must remain with children during the program. Our events are a great time to get public library cards and borrow a first stack of books for the summer. Let your kids explore their interests and keep them reading during the school break!

Plan for summer fun at the library! Wednesdays at 2:30 pm, starting June 3rd.

16-year-old Sybil Ludington became a hero of the American Revolutionary War on this day in 1777 when she rode 40 miles through the night to warn local militia troops of a British attack on the town of Danbury, Connecticut. To read more about this courageous yet little-known hero who rode twice the distance of Paul Revere on his famous midnight ride, visit https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=24115

To introduce your kids to Sybil's story, we highly recommend the chapter book "Sybil Ludington’s Midnight Ride" for ages 6 to 9 (https://www.amightygirl.com/sybil-ludington-s-midnight-ride) and the graphic novel "Sybil Ludington Rides to the Rescue" for ages 7 to 10 (https://www.amightygirl.com/sybil-ludington-rides-to-the-rescue)

There are also two historical fiction novels "By the Light of Fireflies" for ages 7 to 10 (https://bookshop.org/a/8011/9781954332133) and "Sybil Ludington: Revolutionary War Rider" for ages 8 to 12 (https://www.amightygirl.com/sybil-ludington-war-rider)

She is one of 20 women featured in the fascinating book, "Women Heroes of the American Revolution: 20 Stories of Espionage Sabotage, Defiance, and Rescue," recommended for teens and adults, ages 13 and up, at https://www.amightygirl.com/women-heroes-of-the-american-revolution

To learn about more courageous Revolutionary Women, you can find reading recommendations for both kids and adults in our blog post, "Remember the Ladies: Books Celebrating Revolutionary Women” at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=12580
