McGraw Lions Summer-Autumn Update (November 2025)
Hi all! Well, it’s been a busy year so far! In June we had a great Chicken BBQ!

And, A few lions golfed in autism awareness tournament!
In July we started our Nextrex Recycling Challenge, collecting plastic wrap & bags, keeping this plastic out of landfills, to be used to make a variety of items. On reaching 1000 lbs, Trex will give us a bench, which we will donate to McGraw for their schools or park. We have had wonderful help from many local businesses including but not limited to Andersons Farm Market, Price Chopper, Osborne’s Carpet, Lowe’s, Tractor Supply Center and Walmart, as well as many individual donations. We thank them immensely!

Another thank you to Lions Kim, Fran and Mary V for helping haul 140 pounds of plastic to Fayetteville Wegmans Oct 27th! We are getting close to earning our first bench. To date we have collected over 800 pounds of plastic wrapping, bags, bubble & packing plastic, keeping this plastic out of landfills! (Remember, no hard plastic such as molded pieces & bottles please!) Bottles with a deposit are a separate collection. We continue to collect (clean) bottles & cans towards Lions’ community activities.
Other recent activities include:
Continuing accepting donations of gently used eyeglasses/frames…
Thank you to Lions Fran and Jean for helping me with eye screening at Homer elementary school Oct 23rd. We tested 270 kids 24 got referrals. Great job!
A Huge Thank you to Lion Rebecca, youth bureau, Kim, Ken & Fluorescent Fran for your help in the Road clean up Oct 25th! A tough group to work in the cold!
