The McGregor Volunteer Fire Department is a 100% volunteer Fire Department that provides emergency services to the City of McGregor and the surrounding area. The McGregor Fire Department covers 110 square miles, one airport, Space X, two Highways, and around 10,000 people. The Fire Department prides itself on its ability to cover the 911 district and still maintain a community involvement. The Fir

e Department relies heavily on donations from the community as well as grants from the State of Texas and the Federal Government. This page has been created so the community can follow along with MVFD and to let us know how we are doing. With that being said, any derogatory or threatening comments pertaining to the fire department or the members of the fire department will be deleted and that follower will be banned and blocked from the page. The National Weather Service Has Issued a Grass Fire Danger Statement for McLennan as well as other counties. Very hot temperatures of 105+ degrees and afternoon RH values of 15-25% will create a favorable setup for fire starts today. South to southwest winds of 10-15 mph with occasional gusts up to 20 mph will also raise the potential for fire spread.

Extreme care is urged during all outside activities where there is a potential for grass fires to get started. Avoid outside burning and welding. Do not toss lit cigarette butts outside.

At 15:28, McGregor Fire was dispatched to 2200 blk of Pleasant Run Rd on a mutual aid grass fire / structures endangered to assist Crawford VFD. Approximately 12-15 acres burned. Grass was burned only feet from 2 residences.

Please be careful with any outdoor activities that may cause sparks.

At 1515, McGregor Fire along with Moody Fire was dispatched to the 1000 block of Wyatt Lane, in the county, reference to a burn ban violation. Upon arrival on scene, we found a large wood burn pile burning unattended.

Due to being under a burn ban, we notified our friends at the Sheriffs Office, and they showed up as well.

This is terrible weather to burn anything. Please dont.

The fire danger is considered very high today in McLennan County. Yesterday we had a small grass fire, not worth mentioning, but several our our neighbors are getting grass fires daily. Please keep in mind that we are under a burn ban, so do not throw ci******es out the window, and if you are doing anything that may cause sparks, have water or a fire extinguisher nearby.
