NJ Wing proudly graduated nearly 190 cadets from this year's Basic Encampment and Advanced Training School at JBMDL. Throughout the week, cadets built leadership skills, confidence, and lasting friendships through hands-on training and challenging experiences.

This achievement was made possible by the dedication of NJWG staff, cadet cadre, and JBMDL, whose commitment helped create an unforgettable summer experience for all participants. Congratulations to all the graduates!

Greetings, New Jersey Wing!

I want to thank all of our exceptional staff throughout New Jersey Wing for their tireless efforts in manning our many summer activities.

New Jersey Wing members directed and supported the GSAR and Comms School, the National Flight Academy (Falcon Flight), Advanced Training School, and Basic Encampment 26. The dedication and professionalism shown by all of our members and the success of these activities is remarkable.

The memories of NJ Wing Basic Encampment (BE) 2026 continue to inspire. Over the course of one week, cadets challenged themselves, developed leadership skills, built confidence, and achieved milestones that reflected their hard work and dedication. Beyond the training and accomplishments, lasting friendships were formed and unforgettable memories were made. As we look back on BE 2026, we celebrate the growth, teamwork, and perseverance that made BE 2026 such a remarkable experience. Here's to the achievements earned, the bonds forged, and the bright futures ahead.

Col. Michael Stefanovic, Commander, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL) and 87th Air Base Wing, JB MDL, was the keynote speaker at NJ Wing's Basic Encampment addressing cadets on military leadership and answering their questions. Col Stefanovic also presented C/Lt Col Luke Patterson with the General Ira C. Eaker Award.

As New Jersey Wing Basic Encampment gets underway, we know many parents and families are eager to see photos and updates from their cadets' experiences.

The BE 2026 Public Affairs Team is on the ground working hard to capture the many activities taking place throughout encampment. Each day, hundreds of photos are taken, and the BE 2026 PAO team carefully reviews and sorts through the photos before uploading them.

Civil Air Patrol’s New Jersey Wing recently conducted its Summer 2026 Basic Ground Search & Rescue School at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, equipping cadets and senior members with the skills needed for real-world emergency services missions.

Through classroom instruction, hands-on training, and a challenging field training exercise, participants developed expertise in land navigation, search operations, direction finding, field craft, and mission ex*****on while working toward Ground Team and Urban Direction Finding qualifications.

Congratulations to all graduates and staff who contributed to another successful GSAR School, strengthening mission readiness and supporting communities across New Jersey!

Taking Flight Through Service.....

Cadets from the Air Victory Museum Composite Squadron and Maj. Thomas B. McGuire Jr. Composite Squadron recently volunteered at the 2026 Burlington County Balloon Festival, supporting the New Jersey Lions Club’s annual event while gaining hands-on aerospace experience.

Cadets assisted with event operations, helped balloon crews with setup and line handling, supported the Kids Zone, and served as ambassadors for Civil Air Patrol by sharing our missions in aerospace education, cadet programs, and emergency services.

The highlight of the day was experiencing lighter-than-air aviation firsthand through a tethered hot air balloon ride, giving cadets a unique perspective on flight beyond the cockpit.
