IT’S OFFICIAL!! While we miss being the fire department for McKee Rocks Borough, we will continue to provide services to the residents of the borough through our requested mutual aid responses. We thank the community for many years of support. Our members are thriving with the new opportunities this merger has awarded our department and look forward to what is to come in the future!!

We would like to thank Ed and Day in the ‘Burgh for choosing to showcase our fire department as a staple amongst the McKees Rocks Community. Our members risk their lives for family, friends, and strangers by choosing this type of volunteerism and it’s nice to see it recognized. It is with deepest regrets, The McKees Rocks Fire Department, McKees Rocks Borough and friends and family grieve and honor the life of Nicholas Radoycis Jr. Tuesday he suffered a medical emergency that today resulted in his untimely passing.

We would like everyone to hold those close to him in their thoughts and prayers as we navigate the next few days saying goodbye to such a reputable, passionate, and honorable man.

Radoycis retired in January of 2021 after serving 38 years with the McKees Rocks Independent Volunteer Fire Department. He was the Fire Chief for 28 of his 38 years with the department. He was also a retired Assistant District Attorney for Allegheny County, US Army Veteran, and Councilman of the 2nd ward for the McKees Rocks Borough. He will be remembered for his tireless commitment to the Borough of McKees Rocks and for keeping its residents safe.

All members of the McKees Rocks Independent Volunteer Fire Department would like to express their deepest condolences to his friends and family.
