I stopped by Mon Valley Life Span today to celebrate Older Americans Month, and what an incredible event it was!

Seniors enjoyed helpful resources, plenty of snacks, and a fantastic performance of Beatles classics by the Clairton Elementary students — they absolutely lit up the room.

Huge thank‑you to Lifespan, Inc. for hosting and for creating such a meaningful space for our residents and young people to come together.

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, I hope everyone can take a moment to remember the brave men and women—and the families who stood beside them—who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Their courage is the reason we are able to enjoy this long weekend and celebrate the values that make our country strong. To everyone in the 35th District and beyond who served and did not return home: we honor you, and we will never forget your sacrifice.

Beginning June 6, you can be cited for driving while using a handheld phone in PA.
“Paul Miller’s Law” went into effect last year, but in the first year police could only issue warnings. June 6 marks the date when distracted drivers will be subject to a fine. There are exceptions for contacting emergency officials and hands-free technology.
“Paul Miller’s Law” was named for a 21-year-old Scranton man who was killed in a 2010 crash involving a driver using a cell phone.

Polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm. Mail-in ballots must be received by our county election office no later than 8 pm Tuesday.
