Built a firm foundation of leadership and collaboration in both my public and private sector careers.
PLATFORM:
Promote the rural character of Dinwiddie County and support agriculture and forestry. My nearly 20 year record on the Planning Commission documents my voting record in this area.
Pro public safety and support for law enforcement. One of my sons is a police officer and I also wore a military uniform myself for over 20 years. My Planning Commission record also speaks to this support.
Local government leadership in providing effective yet economical infrastructure as a foundation to serve the needs of the County's citizens and businesses. While my professional career has been in transportation (roads, rails, and trails), at the moment I believe rural broadband internet is a priority for our citizens. I want to get up to speed quickly on the County's progress in this area, and do my part to expedite complete broadband coverage of the County.
Belief in limited government. Minimal government at all levels is important for the freedom and pursuit of happiness for all citizens. I have begun educating myself on how Dinwiddie County currently works, and to also listen to constituent concerns. As an example, secondary education is important for our young folks, and I want to better understand the Board of Supervisor's role with that of the School Board. Many constituents have already spoken to me about their concerns with our schools. I am eager to collaborate with the School Board and Constitutional Officers to help make Dinwiddie a better place for our citizens and businesses!
