Northern Humboldt Humboldt High School District wants to congratulate Superintendents Secretary, Tammy Pires for her recent Classified Employee of the Year award.

The celebrations continue, today we're honoring Tammy Pires!

Nominated by Superintendent Roger Macdonald, Tammy has served as Superintendent's Secretary at the District Office since 2002. She supports district leadership across Human Resources, CALPADS, budget coordination, Board Policy, and communications. Roger describes her as "the glue that holds our District together."

Tammy's investment in her community runs just as deep. She has volunteered with school booster groups, coached cheerleading at both the youth and high school levels, and continues to show up for student programs long after her own children have graduated.

Congratulations, Tammy, thank you for over two decades of dedicated service to students, staff, and the greater community!

This week we celebrate our Classified School Employees! We want to express our deepest gratitude for everything you do.

High school is an impactful and important time for our students, and the safe, welcoming environments you create on our campuses ensures a quality environment in the classroom and across the District. Whether you work in the front office, the cafeteria, facilities, technology, transportation, fiscal service or maintenance or are serving students in the classroom or our library, your impact is profound. Our College and Career and Indian Education programs are getting stronger and it is our Classified staff who are leading the way.

We see you every day in so many different roles. A constant is your positive and student centered contribution to our learning community.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication to our students, families, and community.

Today is National School Nurse Day!

School nurses are often a student’s most consistent medical care professional. It takes a special person to pair health care and education and NHUHSD school nurse Johnny Kell is just that person. He promotes the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff every day.

We appreciate Johnny's enthusiasm for his profession and the love that he shares with staff and students alike. Northern Humboldt is grateful for Johnny's service over the years. No matter what he always maintains his focus on the physical and mental health of all of us.

Please join us in thanking Johnny for the invaluable work he does!

This week as a nation we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week and next Wednesday, California’s Day of the Teacher. We want to take a moment to express our deep gratitude for the work our teachers do every day.

Your commitment to education and your dedication to shaping the lives of young people is nothing short of inspiring. In classrooms across our District, and in so many ways outside of the classroom, teachers are making a big impact on student lives.

The last few weeks in particular, we have seen our teachers lead so many extracurricular activities. Teachers lead students on local field trips and take students on excursions across our county, state and nation as well as international travel. Teachers have been creating opportunities for our students to express themselves in the visual and performing arts on and off campus and at all of our sites teachers have led efforts to celebrate the rich diversity of our student body.

In the classroom our teachers are putting in the work to see that our students are able to graduate college and career ready. These last months are pressure packed and we know that they are doing all they can to meet the individual needs of every student.

Thank you for always putting students first and for everything you do to make our schools excellent places to learn!

Today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day!

Our School Bus Drivers welcome many of our students first thing in the morning and get them to and from school every day. Our excellent crew of Bus Drivers ensures that students are transported safely and reliably and do so with pride and enthusiasm.

We are grateful for our hard working and dedicated Transportation staff. Not only does our team transport our students to and from school they make so many of our field trips and extracurricular activities possible. They keep our vehicles clean and well maintained and often choose to work in the summers to assist our Custodians to get our schools ready for students.

Our Bus Drivers are members of a close knit team at the Bus Garage. In addition to providing transportation for our own students we contract with other school districts to transport students, service their vehicles and offer expert mechanic support as well.

Thank a Bus Driver when you see them today!

Today lets take a moment to celebrate the group who truly make our schools run - our Administrative Professionals.

While many see our offices as a place to drop off a form or check in, we know that our administrative assistants are the heartbeat of our daily operations. They are the first friendly faces to greet our students and staff in the mornings, the calm voices on the other end of the phone, and the ones who ensure our staff have exactly what they need.

To our Administrative Professionals - Thank you! Thank you for your patience, your expertise and the countless “behind-the-scenes” work that you do. The impact you have on our district is immeasurable!
