TEMPORARY CLOSURE – MURRAY ROAD PARKING AREA AND PORTIONS OF THE MCKINLEYVILLE COMMUNITY FOREST 📣STARTING THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 7TH📣

McKinleyville, CA – Beginning the week of September 7, 2026, the Murray Road Parking Area and portions of the McKinleyville Community Forest may be temporarily closed to allow hazardous fuels reduction work associated with the Murray Road Fuel Break Project. This project is part of the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) Phase VI and focuses on reducing fuels along Murray Road, a key ingress and egress route between McKinleyville and Fieldbrook. The work will improve wildfire preparedness by reducing ladder fuels, enhancing firefighter access, and helping provide safer evacuation routes for the surrounding community.

We are excited to announce that Billy Allen of USA BMX is on site and will begin working on the final phase of our track Wednesday and Thursday this week. The track will be closed while he sculpts the track and smooths things out for us. Our MckBMX team will be taking notes and getting things ready to ride asap. Please note that we will open the track up asap, hopefully this labor day weekend.

🚨 McKinleyville BMX Track CLOSED TOMORROW - THURSDAY (tentatively through Saturday if needed)! 🚨

The McKinleyville BMX Track will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 2nd - Thursday, September 3rd (and if needed, possibly Friday - Saturday as well) while the USABMX crew is onsite to reshape and condition the track! 🚲💨

This work is an exciting step toward having the McKinleyville BMX Track officially sanctioned by USABMX! 🏁

We appreciate everyone’s patience while this important work is completed. We can’t wait to see the track looking (and riding!) its best! 🤘

Sadly, due to unauthorized e-moto use and damage, we are forced to start locking up the new BMX track at 5:00 p.m. until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. As a friendly reminder, only pedal bikes are allowed on the track. All motorized vehicles and toys damage the track and can cause safety issues. No e-motos, e-bikes, RC cars. Pedal mountain bikes, striders and of course BMX bikes are allowed. Let's all work together to be responsible, kind to fellow riders, and take care of this new asset to our community!
