Sometimes the work takes you farther than you ever imagined. 🇺🇸🇦🇺🐕

What started as a vision to advance the way detection dogs are trained and deployed turned into an opportunity to travel across the world, work alongside some incredible people, and help build something that has never existed in Australia before.

Two dogs. Two handlers. Countless hours of training. Real world searches. Third party certification. National media. And most importantly, the beginning of a resource designed to help Australian families find answers when mold may be impacting their homes.

Watching Buck and Ivan develop alongside their handlers Lisa and Kristen and seeing the commitment behind Mold Dogs Australia made this trip about much more than dog training.

It was about service, collaboration, science, and raising the standard.

I’m incredibly grateful to Tracey Seymour and everyone who trusted Next Level K9 to be part of this journey. The goal was never simply to train dogs. It was to help build teams capable of doing meaningful work long after we returned home.

Australia, thank you for the hospitality, the friendships, and the opportunity.

This chapter may be finished…

Every training day should have a purpose.

This week, we challenged the Frisco PD K9 Unit with detection scenarios designed to build confidence, sharpen communication, and prepare for the unexpected not just find odor.

Freshly slobbered dog toys as distractors.. lowering odor thresholds while building on discrimination principles... searching in windy environments that forced dogs and handlers to trust the process.... Deep, inaccessible hides requiring patience and commitment... Neutralization around pack members and other working dogs and of course Obedience to odor!

Every exercise had a clear objective, and every person on the field knew their role in making the team better.
The best training doesn't happen by accident. It happens through intentional planning, honest evaluation, and teamwork.

Just as important, every scenario included a contingency plan. Because deployments rarely unfold exactly as expected, everyone should know what the backup plan is before the first dog leaves the vehicle.

Train with purpose. Communicate with intention. Adapt when the plan changes.

Bear will be missed in ways words cannot explain. His legacy will also continue in ways we can't fathom. God had big plans that K9 Bear carried out faithfully on earth, now He has even bigger plans for K9 Bear in heaven 🙏🏼🐕💙
