Lawson Early Childhood School Early Childhood School serving all of McKinney ISD.

The Herman Lawson Early Childhood School opened in the fall of 2009 and is located near the intersection of Wolford Street and Dowell Street in west McKinney. The center is home to Early Head Start, Head Start, Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD), and Pre-Kindergarten programs in McKinney ISD.

This Wednesday day we are holding our first POPS meeting of the year! This optional, parent meeting is a great way to meet with you all and answers some questions about all things Lawson and our services that we provide. We will meet in the Lawson library on September 2nd at 8:30am in English and 9:30am in Spanish. Please don't forget your ID to enter the building. We look forward to seeing you!

Lawson Early Childhood School Pre-K Registration (2026–2027)

Is your child turning 4 years old by September 1, 2026? They may qualify for McKinney ISD's free Pre-K program at Lawson Early Childhood School.

Before enrolling in Skyward, families must first complete the Lawson approval process. Visit the link below to learn about eligibility requirements and begin the pre-registration process:
