We are excited about sharing information about what we are doing within the department as well as what is happening around our great city. We are also excited to hear from members of our community. While the sites are not monitored by the city 24/7, all comments and replies are read on a regular basis and will remain unreported or a user unblocked if in keeping with the city’s user guidelines. Our user guidelines are as follows: 1. Responses by the city to any comments from the public are limited to providing factual information or a generic salutation. Moderators will not argue with any person who chooses to engage on this account. 2. New postings should be relevant, current and appropriate. Keep comments short and to the point. 3. The city's Hazard Mitigation Plans help us to better understand the natural hazards that pose a threat to the area and to develop actions that reduce the risk associated with these hazards. Part of the update process includes review and approval from the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Their approval allows the city to be eligible for Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant funding.
As part of the update process we need to hear from you. We've developed a survey to help gauge local household and business preparedness for disasters. Information you provide will help us identify actions that would reduce risk and loss from natural hazards. All responses are anonymous. Take the survey: mckinneytexas.org/mitigation

Hey y’all! I wanted to share this project throughout the community for all those who may be interested.
In May I began talking to 20 seniors from McKinney High School (where I graduated from in what feels like ages ago) to gather bits and pieces of their one-of-a-kind high school experience amidst a pandemic. They shared their challenges, memories, and hopes for what’s to come. This group of graduates reinforces that their generation is one to get excited about: their resolve is unwavering, and I look forward to the future and what they’ll make of it!
McKinney is truly"Unique by Nature" . McKinney citizens care about their neighbors. It's wonderful to see the many people wearing masks. A mask today will keep our businesses open now AND in the months to come. Keep up the good work mask wearers!!!
