City of McKinney Social Media Policy
Social media sites operated by the City of McKinney are a place where we want to foster positive communication between the city and the citizens. We are excited about sharing information about what we are doing within the department as well as what is happening around our great city. While the sites are not monitored by the city 24/7, all comments and replies

are read on a regular basis and will remain unreported or a user unblocked if in keeping with the city’s user guidelines. Responses by the city to any comments from the public are limited to providing factual information or a generic salutation. Moderators will not argue with any person who chooses to engage on this account.
2. New postings should be relevant, current and appropriate. Keep comments short and to the point.
3. Do not include personally identifiable information within your post. This would include but is not limited to addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers or other sensitive information.
4. Do not represent yourself as another person.
5. The City reserves the right to delete comments and/or posts that fall under the following categories:
i. Threats of physical violence;
ii. Defamation
iv. Obscenity
v. “Fighting words”
vi. Solicitations to commit crime
vii. Child po*******hy
vii. Incitement of imminent lawless action
ix. Plagiarism or infringement of intellectual property rights
x. Fraud, or other speech integral to criminal conduct.
6. Repeat violators are subject to being blocked from accessing the City’s social media pages.

Let’s take a look at what happened at the Tuesday, June 2 McKinney City Council meeting:

City Council approved a donation from Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital-Plano to expand the Neighborhood Heroes Program with up to 190 additional AEDs, moving the city closer to its goal of becoming a 4-minute city.

City Council approved the selection of Garver LLC to serve as the airport's engineer of record for construction services for the McKinney National Airport Taxiway A Phase II project.

City Council approved a resolution supporting Franklin Branch Apartments, allowing the proposed 288-unit mixed-income housing development to move forward in the state's affordable housing tax credit review process.

Council approved a construction contract for improvements to the Grady Littlejohn Softball & Baseball Complex at Towne Lake Park.

The goats are back!

Goatscaping begins today, June 1 at Towne Lake Park and ends at Al Ruschhaupt Park. The goats will be clearing difficult to reach areas with traditional maintenance methods along the Wilson Creek Trail. Trail users may see goats for three or four weeks.

Please admire from a distance. No touching or feeding of the goats.
