We wanted to share this wonderful video of Santa and his Elf and his Sleigh Driver (of our antique Pirsch fire engine) at McLean Winterfest Parade yesterday. So much fun to be out in our community sharing holiday joy!
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and we ask our neighbors for your financial support. The funding for McLean VFD relies heavily on your financial donations. MVFD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide high-quality fire, rescue and emergency medical services, and life/safety education to the McLean community in partnership with the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department. We have been fortunate to belong to, and to serve, a very generous and supportive community, and we continue to rely on your donations. Note that MVFD will never solicit donations over the telephone. Visit us at (https://mcleanvfd.org/support-us/) to learn how you can help! Thank you.
MVFD “Santa Runs” start Monday! Here is Santa’s itinerary this week:
Dec. 2 Pimmit Hills
Dec. 3 Stoneleigh, Mclean High School area, Southridge.
Dec. 4 Old Chesterbrook Rd., Rosemont, Kent Gardens School area
Dec. 5 Youngblood St. area

Santa tries to cover as much of the McLean area as he can, but he simply can’t visit every street. Many cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets are difficult for the Pirsch sleigh, too. So, if you know he is in your neighborhood – and we will try to make a lot of noise — or if you’re tracking via the Santa tracker – hurry out to the major streets and intersections as fast as you can to see Santa. The schedule also may change owing to weather or mechanical issues. PLEASE USE THE SANTA TRACKER, and do not call the fire station asking where Santa is, as the career fire and emergency medical personnel are there to save lives!
Please consider donating to your McLean Volunteer Fire Department. Our neighbors sometimes ask, “I pay taxes to Fairfax County. Why do you need this donation?” That’s a fair question. And the answer is: Your donations enable MVFD to buy most of the fire and rescue and emergency medical vehicles, and fund functional and quality-of-life enhancements to the McLean fire station. That is critical support, as your tax dollars via the County go to 24/7 staffing as well as to cover maintenance and fuel for the vehicles and facility. This short video explains what we do as volunteers, why we volunteer – and how your financial support is so important to helping MVFD continue to provide you with first-rate emergency services. Thank you. (https://mcleanvfd.org/support-us/)

As of today, MVFD’s funds (from you and community charities) have contributed six active vehicles to the County fleet, at a value of more than $2 million.
