Today, Friday May 22, is EMS Recognition Day. This EMS Week, McLean Fire Department is challenging Fire & EMS First Response agencies across Tompkins County to post a photo or video of:

🚑 Your EMS apparatus👩‍🚒 Your volunteer responders🚨 Your crew ready to answer the call

BLS & ALS First Response EMS providers and Volunteer Firefighters are often first on scene in our communities, responding from work, home, and family time to help neighbors in need.

The McLean Fire Department has taken delivery of an ELECTRIC VEHICLE plug. This plug will trick an electric vehicle into thinking that it’s hooked up to a charger port. It will make it safer for the firefighters to work around. Thank you Margaret Rich for your support.

What a great day for training. Our members spent all morning and part of the afternoon practicing extrication and disentanglement. We slowed down and trained on the basics, learned how different each type of vehicle is, practiced good communication, and used both primary and backup techniques. We are all volunteer all the time. A huge shout out to T***s & Son for supporting our training.

Congratulations to Firefighter Brian Bernard for completetion of the Cortland County Firefighter Training Series. This program encompasses mulitple classes and includes nearly 140 hours of classroom and hands-on instruction.
