Pottawatomie County is now under a burn ban so no burning of any type is allowed. If you do any activities that causes sparking or anything that could start a fire, please take precautions to prevent an ignition. Our current weather conditions will make it easy for a fire to spread quickly and be difficult to contain.

There’s currently a burn ban in McLoud city limits so no burn permits will be issued and no burning is allowed. As of today, there isn’t a burn ban in Pottawatomie county but we highly advise that you refrain from any burning. The grass is extremely dry and the winds have been getting stronger so we have an elevated fire danger for the next week. Even though the below graph shows western Oklahoma, fires will spread quickly and be difficult to control in our area until we start getting some measurable rainfall.

Happy 4th of July from your McLoud Fire Department. We hope everyone has a safe holiday and hope everyone keeps safety in mind especially with fireworks, grilling, and heat exhaustion/stroke. Happy 250th to the great ole’ USA.

It’s that time of year again where the fireworks stands are popping up everywhere and you can hear the nightly explosions with flashes of light in the distance. We want everyone to have fun but be safe when setting off fireworks as they do pose a lot of risk. Please keep the following in mind if you do fireworks this year.

Kick off tomorrow's festival by watching the parade downtown at 10am!

The parade will run from 8th and Broadway, down Broadway, turning onto Main Street! We can't wait to see you there!

I know everyone is excited about getting those early armbands but we did have a delay getting those sent to us. I will post as soon as they are in hand and they will be available at McLoud Mercantile, McLoud Clinic Pharmacy, as well as Oklahoma Street Coffee!!
