Earlier this month, Detectives from the McMinnville Police Department, with assistance of the Oregon State Police and Detectives from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, contacted 34-year-old Jared Joseph Leslie on a traffic stop on SW Durham Lane near Hwy 18, west of McMinnville. The stop was related to an ongoing investigation and at the time of the contact, Mr. Leslie was found to be unlawfully in possession of a fi***rm and in possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). He was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Fi***rm and PCS.

Following the initial contact and arrest, detectives conducted a follow up investigation at a residence in Sheridan, where Mr. Leslie was temporarily residing. During a search of the location, seven additional fi***rms, more than a dozen fi***rms magazines, and am******on, all belonging to Mr. Leslie, were located and seized. Mr. Leslie was lodged at the Yamhill County Jail for Felon in Possession of a Fi***rm and PCS (methamphetamine) with additional charges pending.

McMinnville High School Grizzfest & Exploration Fair was a success! 💙

SRO (School Resource Officer) Barros had a great time connecting with students, families, and community partners at last night’s Exploration Fair!

As McMinnville High School students begin the 2026–2027 school year, which started on August 31, this event was a wonderful opportunity to explore what the future may hold. With nearly 70 representatives participating, students and families had the chance to learn about a wide variety of post-secondary education, career, and community programs available after high school.

It was especially wonderful to see the friendly, enthusiastic, and supportive MHS teachers and staff who helped organize and bring this event to life. Their dedication to supporting students and connecting them with future opportunities was truly appreciated!

Thank you to McMinnville High School, its amazing staff, and all the participating organizations, businesses, and community partners who helped make this event a success. We look forward to seeing all the exciting opportunities ahead for our students! 💙

💙 Thank You, See Ya Later Foundation! 💙

A huge thank you to the See Ya Later Foundation for putting on such an amazing Champions Run for Heroes event last Saturday, September 12th!

It was wonderful to see so many first responders, community members, families, and friends come together to honor our heroes, remember 9/11, and enjoy a beautiful morning as a community.

And what a beautiful location to run! The Evergreen Lodge and the North American Aerospace Museum (formerly known as the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum) provided an incredible backdrop for such a meaningful event. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We are so grateful to the See Ya Later Foundation for all the work they put into bringing our community together and for the many ways they support local youth, families, and students throughout our community. Their dedication makes such a positive impact!

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, cheered from the sidelines, and helped make the day so special. 💙

💙 Caught Being Awesome! 💙

We love seeing young members of our community stepping up to help others! This young man was caught being awesome while helping his mom unload her car, which had broken down and was being picked up by a tow truck. He was working really hard and lifting all the “big things” to help his mom out. 💪

Officer Huey happened to catch him in the act of being awesome and recognized his kindness with a Caught Being Sweet Ticket! 🍦

Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

On this solemn day, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost and the countless families whose lives were forever changed. We honor the courageous first responders who answered the call without hesitation and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the extraordinary strength, unity, and resilience shown by our nation in the days that followed.

The McMinnville Police Department joins communities across the country in honoring those we lost and expressing our gratitude to the first responders, service members, and all those who continue to serve and protect our communities.

On the morning of September 8th, 2026, McMinnville Police were dispatched to a call of an unresponsive 12-year-old child at a residence in the 1200 block of SW Darci Drive, McMinnville, Oregon. Lifesaving efforts were attempted to no avail. Detectives with the Yamhill County Major Crime Response Team initiated an investigation. This investigation is ongoing.

McMinnville community safety is a primary goal of the McMinnville Police Department. Consequently, we understand this type of incident is far reaching in its affects within a community. That said, this is an isolated incident to the victims connected to this incident at this time. No additional information is available for release at this time.

🚓 SEATBELT ENFORCEMENT BLITZ RESULTS 🚓

From August 24 through September 6, McMinnville Police Officers conducted several traffic details focused on seatbelt enforcement and education.

During the two-week enforcement blitz, officers issued the following citations and warnings:
